Great homey Chinese restaurant with authentic seasoning and "wok air"!Love their chili oil too, fragrant and spicy. All the food came so quick. The service was also great.Their portions are generous and prices are amazing. Most dishes were around $10.The Stir Fried Clams were meaty and big.The Lamb Soup Noodle came in fresh hand pulled noodle and vermicelli, I was surprised. The Stir Fried beans were nice and tender but the minced pork was a bit too salty. The Lamb Skewers were balanced in meat and flavour, not a bite I couldn't chew. The only thing was that their dishware were all disposable plastics. There are 2 unisex washroom fairly clean too.
Shaanxi Restaurant's name refers to the northwestern Chinese region for which ancient city Xi'an is the capital. This was where the Silk Road started, influencing use of lamb, bread, noodle in its cuisine. We tasted many dishes when the restaurant offered delivery. For our takeout spread, Lamb Skewers were a must-order item topped by mild spices. It was a bit dry post-delivery. The Xi'an Pork Burger (RouJiaMo) included plenty of braised pork hugged by a flakey bread bun that soaked up its slight greasiness.Huge portions were provided for the main dishes. Beef and Vegetable Hotpot included quite an assorted mix of soup ingredients. We paired it with Spicy Fish Fillet with Dried Tofu. First time trying this dry version of Szechuan spicy fish, the spice level was fairly mild.On a subsequent meal, the Water Boiled Spicy Fish was delicious in an aromatic chili oil soup base. Braised Eggplant was savoury & soft, giving umami undertones. Xi'an Style Cold Noodles were a spicy compliment, while Sautéed Lamb with Cumin was more fatty but reminiscent of the lamb skewers.Shaanxi Restaurant is a good option if I'm on the lookout again for northwestern Chinese food such as cumin lamb. Most dishes do hit the spot, although it's perhaps less about refined flavour & more about affordable large portions on the dish assortment.
I normally won’t put review. But today was upsetting . When I called to order liangpi(cold noodle). I mentioned extra spicy sauce and also confirmed with then again when I pick it up/. However, there wasn’t any extra.Second, the quality of noodle is much worse than before. Noodle is way to thick. Also Some are wide as big spoon, some are tiny as small chopstick. there are only few slice ( maybe 3-5 slice ) of cucumber and bean sports.
Proper socially distanced tables. Good food and good portions. The steamed dumplings get dry quick so it's better to eat within the restaurant than to order take-out.
Really like this Chinese restaurant such friendly and accommondating staff! Unlike some other resaurants, the staff here are all very energetic and positive which feels like ones in China. Food here are also gorgeous:)
Food is great and price is reasonable
At least order takeout from here once a week. Recommend the cold noodle, lamb kebab, pork bun, and lamb fried bun.
Excellent restaurant for authentic Xi’an food. Love their biang biang mien!
