First time trying this place and the portions are solid for the price. I tried the Pork Bulgogi Jungsik ($18.99) and the food was very good. Pork was juicy and a bit spicy. The noodle soup they are known for is a beef bone broth and is a nice contrast from the flavorful meat and side dishes. The kimchi tasted nice and crisp and had a strong garlic flavor. Next time, I would try the king-size dumplings which also looked delicious.
First time trying this restaurant and we had a good experience. The staff are friendly, the restaurant itself is very clean and the decor itself is quite simple. It definitely gave us a traditional Korean restaurant kind of vibe. The food itself was delicious ? The pork belly was cooked just right and tasted so good with the lettuce and the side dishes. The kimchi was also done very well and very fresh! We tried their king-sized dumplings and they were as good as we imagined them to be. As the same suggests they're pretty big and quite stuffed with meat, veggies and onions. It was very filling between 2 people. We found ordering just the dumplings by itself was a better price point than ordering the dumplings with the soup or with the noodles.Definitely would come back during the colder months to try some of their other soups and noodles!
Weekday lunch was a full house but it wasn’t too long of a wait. Great comfort food here - noodles always served piping hot with generous servings of fresh, spicy kimchi ?Kalguksu (4/5) - the beef broth has nice depth and the noodles were more on the soft side than chewy. Would have preferred to have more meat toppings as it can be bland, but it suits my palette and I would order again!Clam kalguksu (5/5) - they were quite generous with the clams given we’ve been experiencing more shrinkflation at restaurants these days! The broth is more of a clear, seafood taste compared to the beef bone broth.
Nothing quite says comfort food other than a plate of giant dumplings and this place definitely delivers.Jin Myungdong serves very homey dishes perfect for any weather, but especially good for the colder months. Here the menu isn't overwhelming, they have just a few categories to choose from. They specialize in kalguksu and dumplings. We ordered the mandu hotpot which had a good mix of veggies, ground meat in their spicy broth and dumplings. All meals come with side dishes and a small pot of fresh kimchi which is extra garlicky. If you're still feeling hungry after the hot pot, you can also have the option of adding noodles to the soup. The dumplings in the hot pot were quite plump and were brimming with filling. This places gets busy on weekends, and it's always a good sign when the Korean grannies and grandpas come here after Sunday service. So be sure to come early to get a spot. Service is quick and friendly. The restaurant can get a little cramped so it's best to grab a table on the sides with no tables behind/infront of you.
this place bussin bussinOrdered the Bossam & Kalguksu Combo, which came with individual sides. Portion was great for only $19.99 and was so delicious! Food came fast, highly recommend for korean noods/kalguksu.
Bossam and Giant Dumplings !!!Now that I got your attention if these were the only two dishes I ordered I would say I would never get bored of them. Jin Korean Noodles also known as Jin Myungdong Korean Noodles (진 명동 칼국수) and is a newer Noodle Joint in the Commerce Valley area which intersects with Markham, Thornhill and Richmond Hill. This is simply put a Korean Noodle Restaurant. In comparison to more traditional Korean Restaurants, the menu is smaller, simpler and focuses on Noodles, Bossam, Dumplings, Bulgogi and soups. There is Kimchi as well and lots of it.Since my first visit in the summer this year, I have been back a few times to introduce this style of food to my foodie friends and family. In the warmer months outside the restaurant, they have a tented patio which they had open right into late fall. Inside there is seating enough for about 25- 30 people at any given time. Now to the food!!! This restaurant centres around their signature Kalguksu (칼국수), King-size dumplings, traditional Bulgogi and sliced steamed pork known as Bossom. The Kalgusku or home-style noodles come with 6 different options you can get veggie, spicy veggie, Clam, meat, dumplings or gyoza and spicy pork bone soup. There are three house special Bugogi's such as the Junsik with marinated sirloin, the Pork Bulgogi made from marinated BBQ pork, and the Spicy Pork Jaeyuk Jungsik. Two more of the featured dishes are the house special Gyoza (King-Size Dumpling) Home-made king-size steamed dumplings made with thin dough & filled with meat & vegetable. The other is the Steam Pork dish known as Bossam, served on a table-top hot plate with fresh garlic and green onions. The server will light the gas-fueled hot plate for you when they bring out the Bossam. You can order various combos. set meals and hot pot sets as well. One dish that is very popular is the seafood pancake, which is big enough for two so be careful if you order this dish it's huge!!!The price range for all of the offerings is mid-range since you can get various combos and sets. The portions are generous and filling, and I've never left JK Noodles without a full belly. Great for couples, friends, and families with kids, this is a restaurant all can enjoy. Remember to call ahead if you have allergies. This is one of my favourite places to eat right now and if this is your kind of place, you will enjoy it too.
Great place for korean soup noodles and big steamed dumplings. They have a bar with soju, beer, etc too
Jin Myungdong is on my MUST GO places in Markham - if I could give more stars than 5, I truly would. My group of 6 ate here on a Saturday night and the wait wasn’t too long - however, so expected a busy restaurant! The waitresses were extremely patient and delivered all our food together, never a complaint in sight. We got the meat kalguksu, and shared two dishes of the steamed gyozas and kimchi dumplings (6 dumplings per dish). My oh my, the soup was extremely tasty and the vibes were immaculate. The noodles were the perfect amount of thickness yet still springy. If you were to choose between the dumplings, I’d go with the kimchi if you want more flavour, and gyoza if you want some more feeling of home. Either way, both were super filling - not to mention that there’s also kimchi, peppers and fermented cabbage as side dishes too.I can’t wait for my next visit and will be sure to continue to try more of the menu! :)
Excellent kalguksu. I didn't think it was possible, but I think I like their clam offering even more than their standard broth.Non-food considerations like service and restaurant comfort are also great.I would fairly highly recommend a visit!
A great place in Markham for an authentic and satisfying fix of Korean food! They have a lot of combos which include a main dish paired with a bunch of side dishes and their signature hand-made soup noodles! We got the beef bulgogi set. The bulgogi was good, and the noodles themselves were really tasty, super springy and chewy. I also loved the in-house kimchi they give you with the food, super large portions and not overly spicy or salty. Would definitely come back here!
