Disappointed with the food portion and quality after the change of owner.
Came by for takeout tonight and although it was busy and I had trouble getting the menu QR code working, the staff were kind and even lent me their personal phone to use.The food itself was well presented and the portions of fish were very fair too. I've sometimes found sushi places in Scarborough to be hit or miss in quality, but all of their sushi and sashimi tasted quite fresh - I'm really glad I tried this place out!My only point of feedback would be that they forgot to include any soy sauce in my takeout bag - I figure this because of how swamped they were. Still, a great experience overall!
This is a slightly below average sushi joint that is priced on the higher end (45 pieces party tray for $58) and rolls averaging $20. Nothing really remarkable on the cuts (mostly on cheaper end) that could justify the higher price. The rolls are very disappointing - too much filler (avocado, cucumber, rice). On the upside, service was prompt and polite. At this sushi level, there are many more options that is at least 30% cheaper.
I forgot which combo we ordered for takeout but it mostly had sashimi because we really wanted sashimi more. It came with california rolls and spicy salmon rolls and was around $55-$60.The freshness of the sashimi shocked me. The gold foil pictured on the tuna was a nice add on though it didn’t taste like anything it just looked nice! Spicy salmon rolls are my favorite and this place definitely made it right. I would really come back here for the takeout, everything from presentation to freshness tastes done right.
Wow! So glad we decided to try this place out. The food here is amazing and each plate is professionally dished like artwork. The sashimi was fresh and I loved the ramen and udon as well. Everything tasted really authentic and the location is really homely with freshly staff. Definitely recommend this small gem— will come back soon!
I visited a lot of sushi restaurant in toronto. This is the best sushi restaurant. First fish, especaily sashimi quality is the best very fresh and very diverse. Also sroll? Rice cook state is perfect some restuarants they don't know how to cook rice(under cook usually), spicy mayo taste was really good so should order extra on!!
Price affordable! Excellent service! High quality of fish and meat! Very tasty! Must go!Best sushi place in the area!
One of my favourite sushi places in Scarborough! The quality of everything we tried was super high, you can tell it was fresh and prepared with a lot of love. The service, the ambience and even the decor of the restaurant was so homey and comfortable. I would say to definitely dine in for the first time, if want to get the full experience. Their sushi is definitely to die for!
Nichiban is a hidden gem. I came here once a few months ago and have returned many times since then. The sushi is always extremely fresh and tastes amazing. I usually get the shrimp tempura rolls and the yam rolls, both are delicious. I've also tried some of the chef's specials, everything was delicious. The prices are also very reasonable.Aside from the amazing food, the customer service here is impeccable. No matter how busy they are, the waiters are always friendly, attentive and will go above and beyond to make sure your experience is a great one. I remember coming here once on a Saturday night when the place was very busy, the food took longer than usual, the manager brought us Springrolls on the house as an apology. They value their customers very much, I've had John as a server a few times and he's amazing. This place has amazing food, great prices and amazing service, making it my go to sushi place. Definitely worth checking out, if you haven't already!
Its been awhile since we ate out and going to Nichiban for our 1st dine in was the best choice. Food was serve hot and fresh. Jeon our server welcome us and made us feel at home. Highly recommended!!!
