Amazing food, a wide range of option on the menu which is amazing but one thing that disappoints me is the customer service. The woman working in the front don’t seem quite happy, they’re very rude and don’t smile at all. Always take pride in what you do and treat this place of work as if it’s your own business. A kind gesture doesn’t make anyone less of a person. Thanks to the kitchen staff that stay consistent with their service always coming out on time.
So I’ve been craving Jerk Pork for a while, so on Saturday I went up to Niceys all the from Port Perry. I used to work in the are so me and my husband make the dive to Scarborough. I was very excited because I used to love their jerk pork and beef soup a lot. I went in excitedly to place my order. The girl was new but tried to help, the girls she called was full of attitude and was visible annoyed. I asked her for oxtail with rice. I asked if she can place the meat on one side and rice one side in the same place and also to put the veggie on the side of which I usually pay $0.50 of which I don’t mind. She went on to explain I need to pay $2.00 extra just for the container. I told her it’s $0.50 for the container to put the veggie on the side. She then told me she cannot accommodate any of my request. I asked for $12.00 jerk pork well done and she replied our pork is cook. I was so disappointed, I stepped back thinking to leave the restaurant but the first girl called back. I told her it’s okay serve the next person but she insisted that I continue with my order. I was about to leave then she asked me to wait and she called a tall thick gentle whom was very nice and got it all done. He was professional, I was so frustrated that I walked leave my husbands oxtail dinner but the nice girl ran it out after me and gave it to me. She apologized again for the girl behaviour. That experience was so bad I was in tears by the time I got back to the car, with my husband waiting inside it. He was so angry. I was so excited when arrived. Long story short my husband and I will not be going back to Nicey’s Restaurant. We work too hard to spend our money and time with a place with employees like that.
It’s not the best Caribbean food I’ve had, especially with all the options around the area. But I can see the appeal of the place, with the drive through and affordable prices. It gives off a fast food vibe.My main concern is the how dry everything is, as they do not provide much gravy. I will ask for extra gravy next time, but I felt it should be the standard. The vegetables seems like those store brought frozen bags of mix greens. The rice felt like it was cooked and left in a tray. The chicken was good though.
Not sure if the quality of the food has gone down since the viral video, but from what I've tasted it is definitely not worth braving a winter storm for. I got to try a small jerk chicken and a small ox tail and no flavours really jumped out at me, they also don't offer coleslaw with their dishes.I ordered online for pick up in which they told me it'll be ready in 35 mins, got there only to find out they haven't started preparing my food yet and had to wait another 30 mins.
I really understand the hype… Price-Portion-Quality is outta the park for me. I ordered the jerk chicken meal with oxtail gravy and it was delicious. I appreciated that the place was clean and the customer service was nice. I can’t wait go to back and try out some more
My new favorite spot!!! So far I have tried the jerk chicken, curry chicken, and salt fish, and oh my goodness it's made with love. It's a cool environment, everyone that works there has a super cool vibe and I love it. Keep it up guys!??
I've only tried their Jerk Pork and their Chicken Roti, but I can say w confidence - this is good island food.Food came out piping hot, full of flavour.Their jerk pork's flavoir is great and the heat builds and comes at you after you consume 1/2 the container - nice.The Chicken Roti, was saucey and full of flavour and the Roti nicely made
My hubby and I had chicken rotis today and the quality, freshness and taste was awesome. There is a reason why this place is so popular. All at a reasonable price too! I saw so many people ordering all different types of Jamaican food. I have to try more of the menu as it has to be good. I waited well over a half hour for my food. I was initially upset that I spent so much time waiting, but next time, I'll order it up online and build the wait time into my drive there. Hope to have it again soon. See you then.
Had to visit this place since it's video during the blizzard went viral. Tried the Curry Goat and yes, well worth it!
The Jerk Chicken and festival were so tasty and filling. It reminds me of when I was a kid back in the Finch and Victoria park area. Happy to know the business is still around and still provide tasty food that me and my family enjoy.
