The deserts are great , light and just the right amount of sweetness very suitable for the some body who prefers this type of deserts. But the down side is a bit too pricey compares to other same type of deserts from some places. I been purchasing cafe Michi for several years, prices increases are dramatically. I hope the owner should be aware of the prices increases.
Cafe Michi is a small and intimate eatery serving home style Japanese favourites and delicious and original cakes.Toronto has no shortage of sushi and ramen restaurants and searching for “Japanese” on Google reviews will return many similar restaurants with nearly identical menus. Cafe Michi, meanwhile, also offers a full sushi menu, but they also offer a variety of less commonly available Japanese dishes including curries, rice bowls and hot pots.We ordered the Toritama and Curry Udon Hotpot for our mains and were immensely satisfied: everything tasted hot, fresh and authentic! Ordered in a set, it came with tea, salad, a bowl of miso soup, and a slice of cake. For desert, we had the the Sake Chocolate Mousse and Red Bean and Green Tea Cake. Both cakes were also superb! We also ordered a croquette as an appetizer, which was perfectly crispy! There is not much seating, so reservations are recommended if you plan to visit at peak hours.
This place is such a gem. An unassuming store front from the exterior but we were extremely satisfied with the quality of food we tried! As a bonus, the desserts were amazing and they had such unique cake flavours! ? The service and hospitality was also perfect ☺️
love the strawberry cake, the cream is light and not too sweet!!! just enjoy it so much!!!
Le Cafe Michi is a high-quality traditional sushi bar disguised as a bakery that sits in an old plaza, and I knew this place is special when I saw those luxury cars parked outside the restaurant. When you walk in, the first thing you will notice is the cakes display. You would think you are in a bakery, but when you walk a little further to the back into a small crowded room, you will find the sushi chef diligently making sushi behind the sushi bar. This place is so popular that you will generally need to make a reservation to get a seat in this place. Fortunately for me, I went there at the right time and was able to sit at the sushi bar. I ordered the Sushi Cafe Set and the Karaage, which I enjoyed. The sushi was fresh, and the fish-to-rice proportion of the nigiri sushi was perfect. Miso soup in a modern teacup was a bit quirky but tasted fine. The Karaage was satisfying.I asked for the bill and was pleasantly surprised that my meal set came with a piece of cake of my choice. I got the chocolate strawberry cake. The flavour was good, and it was so creamy that I felt like it just melted in my mouth. I also found that the cake was not too sweet, which is just the way I like it.Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience in this restaurant.
We tried Le Cafe Michi for lunch as we wanted to try their cakes as well. Each of their food items has the ability to come in a combo with salad, miso soup and a cake slice of your choosing. I got the Beef Curry whereas the rest of my table got a Don and sukiyaki. For our cake slices, we chose the hojicha cheesecake and the bailey cheesecake. The food items were good but the cakes were the highlight. Each set also came with the option of tea or coffee which was a nice complement. Overall very nice cafe and would come back.
A family run restaurant by Japanese people. It has been there for about 12 years according to the chef. The inside is small so make sure to book a reservation in advance especially if you come at weekends and on Fridays. I ordered Chochin bento and it was delicious! Although the price is on the expensive side, it is probably because of the cost of shashimi-level raw fish. I strongly recommend the tofu cheese cake!
Great food and wonderful staff. Polite, friendly and honest. We ordered the Ebi meal for the children and were enjoying our meals when one of the staff brought a single ebi on a plate, and apologizing for the delay/forgetting it. There were already plenty from the meal and we surely wouldn't have missed one lone shrimp, but we definitely appreciated the honesty in bringing it out.The cakes were delicious! Soft and moist, but not too sweet.I see some reviews here about the price. Food and supply costs have gone up significantly in the past 10 years, it is no surprise that they would have to do the same to their menu prices.Don't expect pristine modern decor and/or place settings, but do expect and savour the old world charm and service.
We had diarrhea right after the meal. For the price we expected fresh and high quality sashimi, at least food safety should be guaranteed.
The OG Japanese cafe in uptown. Probably the best Japanese French cake you can get in GTA. Combo sets are fairly good but it got pricier over years. Would recommend if you are in the area.Family run style and defiantly under stuffs. Be patient with the service tho.
