We first tried Katsupan based on a recommendation from a friend last year and have kept going back since! Their sandwiches are so delicious and my husband loves them so much. My favorite was the tamago and actually their vegetarian options are probably the best! I highly recommend checking out this restaurant and if you are debating get the tamagooooo!!
Tried their prawn sandwich and it was good. Just felt like it needed something to balance the slightly greasy sandwich with maybe more acidity or spice. The bread was super soft. Maybe I’ll come back to try a different sandwich. I would come back to try other menu items. I also got their lychee soda which was so tasty and refreshing!
Only takeout is available.Everything feels fresh and the way they pack their fries is best, they make sure that the fries stay crispy for longer times. Fresh breads, best sandwiches and don't forget to try their curry dip alongside the sandwiches. Try the food there and you wouldn't regret for trying.
one of my favourite spots! sandwiches are crispy and tasty and the bread is delicious and decadent. fries are also very crispy!no dine-in option though since the place is pretty small. the portion doesn’t look like much but it’s actually pretty filling :-)give it a try! you won’t be disappointed
Katsupan is the ONLY Japanese Bakery serving variety of DELICIOUS Japanese Katsu Sandwiches in Toronto. The Japanese Milk Bread, Shokupan, is made daily & in-house. Thick & fluffy slices, you can buy the sweet loaves itself like Matcha, French Cocoa flavours and pair it with their Matcha Milk Jam.My personal favourites:1. Prawn Katsu Sando - Crispy crunchy yet juicy prawns, breaded and fried, served with kewpie mayo and red chili sauce, layered between the Shokupan.2. Egg Salad Sando - Creamy egg salad made with Kewpie Mayo and green onions, in between two slices of Japanese Shokupan.3. Togarashi Fries - crispy and perfectly seasoned fries with togarashi peppers and nori seaweed, dip into Miso mayo sauce. You shouldn’t skip on ordering this! *chef kiss*They also have THE ULTIMATE Pork Katsu Sando, which we will be trying on our next visit! The sandwiches are made fresh to order, and you can see all the cooking process as they make it right in front of you
A great find for katsu sandwiches! Tried the chicken, pork, shrimp and egg salad and it was hard to pick a favorite. The fries were also great and the loaf of bread (chocolate) is amazing.
The prawn katsu sandwich was really delicious. The soft bread and the crispy filling with the sauce made every bite enjoyable and complementary. I also got the vanilla loaf to go which was very soft with light vanilla flavor.
Maybe I don't understand the craze for shokupan, or haven't had enough to know good from bad, but I thought everything mostly slightly above average for the price.I ordered the prawn katsu. The bread on that was nicely toasted and I was impressed with how thinly breaded yet flavourful the crispy exterior was. The prawn itself was ok, but it's combined with something else so much so that the prawn flavour didn't really shine through as much as I hoped. Honestly a little disappointed.I also bought a regular sized loaf, as there wasn't much to choose from. It's good bread, but not so good I would run to drop $10 on it again.
Katsupan was a nice after-hike lunch on a Saturday. We preordered an hour prior to opening for pickup. Their website was easy to use. They were very spot on with the pickup time. Preorder definitely helped as they already had a lineup after 12pm. Between 4 people, we ordered 4 different sandos to share and try.Favourite and recommended sandos would be the tamago and prawn. I found the chicken and pork katsu on the drier side with not much to accompany the sandwich. Togarashi fries was a nice addition to the meal.I tried a slice of the sweet matcha shokupan with the matcha jam. Shokupan crust had a burnt taste and the crumb had a light matcha taste.
Their shokupan is so soft! And definitely gotta have it with their jams!Tried the French cocoa shokupan back in the summer (pic with the swirl) alongside their prawn sando and both were magnificent! You can get that nice chocolate taste and the prawn really had some substance!Recently tried they’re French cocoa bread and they made some changes to it, and change is awesome! They made the French cocoa more chocolatey (full chocolate coloured bread in the pic) and even added some melted chocolate in their bread for that little bite of surprise! Both times, I added the vanilla milk jam and it was so good! Nice and smooth and really complemented the bread! I mean, vanilla and chocolate kinda go hand in hand, or in this case bread and spread!Service was amazing both time! Super friendly and such down to earth people working there!Definitely recommend giving them a visit! Great job overall!Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content!
