Looking for an affordable place to grab a quick bite? This place is located in a plaza at the south east corner of Midland Ave and McNicoll Ave.They have $6 lunch special with various meat options. I got the bbq pork and roasted pork rib. The portion was generous and it also came with some steamed veggies and a soup. My wife got bbq pork and roasted duck. The portions for bbq duck was a little bit smaller but understandable since roasted duck is more expensive. I would have liked more soya sauce added on top of the bbq pork as it was lacking flavour.Overall great place to buy cheap lunch or if you are looking to order just bbq meats come check them out. Affordable and fresh bbq meats.
I give them 5 stars for excellent roast pork and value, and you’re in good hands when the friendly, portly BBQ Sifu chef in the glasses is chopping, but if it’s a younger guy with sideburns and a grouchy look chopping, watch him like a hawk as I’ve seen him omit a small portion of my roast pork once (wasn’t a large enough piece to raise a stink, but I did call him out on it on my next visit, and he didn’t respond, which I take as an admission of guilt).
I was in the plaza to buy egg tart from the bakery store so I thought to try out the bbq rice box as well. It’s unbelievable cheap at $6 tax included per rice box and it comes with soup. I picked this store because I saw they use good brand rice but I’m quite disappointed with my choice. The rice is cold warm( I had it immediately inside the car), the bbq pork is very dry and the presentation is poor as there’s sauce stain all over the box. I shouldn’t expect too much for that price but I think they didn’t meet the basic to provide a hot meal to their customers.
This place is the real definition of a hole in the wall. The place is tiny and crammed, make you question the whole process from purchasing to devouring their delicious foods. The pork was fantastic, crispy skin and juicy meaty flesh.A true delight that everyone should try.
No disputing the value at $6 cash of the meat on rice combo with a simple side soup. Take out only and always busy. Tight confines in the shop which is something to consider if Covid is on your mind.I had an order of roast duck and BBQ pork on rice in February 2022. As it came, I prefer my BBQ pork to have more fat and a deeper marinade to boost up the flavour. The fat was fine in the duck and the flavour decent too. Veggie was not cabbage which is a bonus. Give them a try for the value and you may find them very much to your liking.
Great place for Chinese bbq deals. Whether you are looking for a lunch box or a la carte Chinese bbq, this place is extra budget friendly.BBQ Pork + Roasted Pork on rice w/ soup - The BBQ meats are decent and portions are outstanding relative to the price ($6 tax included)Staff are friendly and welcoming here. They mainly speak Chinese (Cantonese) but no worries they're very accommodating regardless of what language you speak. It's no wonder why there's always a lineup here.Note that they accept Cash only
They always have deals. Not just the published ones on the door, if you ask them they have specials on the non-mainstream items like soya duck feet or BBQ ribs. I also like that they use better greens for their rice box and the soup that is included is quite good. However I find their Char Siu hit or miss (sometimes it is way too lean). My last rice box also had BBQ pork missing skin, which was disappointing. Also, on discount soy chicken day, I found their knife too dull leaving way too many bone shards.
My go to for roast pork and bbq duck!! So cheap but delicious flavours!
False Pricing, Overpriced BBQDate: Aug. 17, 2021We ordered roasted duck on rice and bean sauce chicken on rice. Although their ad says $6 per dish, we were charged $6.5 per dish. The BBQ Pork was well overpriced. A medium order was $9.5. The duck was flavorless, chicken and BBQ tasted bad. This place is not worth the visit.
Wow, incredible deal at $6 for a double meat combo with a pop/soup. We tried their Specialty chicken+BBQ pork with rice. They actually gave Choy Sum vs the over boiled cabbage at some places, which is a huge plus. The BBQ pork was juicy and dripping with juices when they cut the piece off from the main. The skin was totally crispy and addictive. Too bad they don't just sell the skin, tee hee. Chicken was tender and tasted like they had fish sauce marinate. This was a steam chicken and tasted good with their green onion + ginger dip. I will definitely come back, especially for a cheap good eat combo - two meats of your choice + pop
