Sushi quality was surprisingly good

I had today the Chirashi Don and the Rainbow Roll very Fresh and Yummy. And Matcha Mousse

Nice omakase place but they also do other Japanese cuisine. The ambiance is great for a nice dinner the place is not too big so no huge crowds.Got the full Toshi set omakase dinner. The fish is very high quality, I cannot complain. However the night I went I did not have the head chef serve us- the secondary chef needs improvement because every time I picked up the nigiri the rice fell apart, I have been to many other Omakase this is not right. For the fish and hopefully the head chef I will be back again.Overall service was decent.

Very satisfied with the service and food, but I and my husband started diarrhea two and a half hours after the meal. I had gastrointestinal discomfort an hour and a half after eating. I thought it was my personal problem. But if two people have diarrhea, it must be the reason for this restaurant. We did not eat in the afternoon, and we have not eaten any other food except this restaurant. It may be that the raw materials appeared today, but we are very dissatisfied with this place . We would go back to eat it again, but I will definitely not go in the future.

Honestly I was quite disappointed with the food and service quality here.Obviously you can't compare Toshi Ryoriten to restaurants like Yasu (which is amazing) in downtown, as these belong in different price tiers of Omakase. That being said, there should be some sort of expectation when you're paying 90 plus for a course. And unfortunately it really does fall short in terms of what I expected.First of all, the nigiri was really not anything to boast about. The selection was ok. The worst part was that 30% of most individual nigiri pieces consisted of overpowering wasabi. I understand that it is conventional to add wasabi to nigiri pieces and I probably had the option to remove wasabi completely. However, usually in other Omakase restaurants; the chefs only put a touch of wasabi to complement the natural flavours of fish. Not the overpowering wasabi taste I experienced the other night there. I do have to give credit where it is due, the duck liver nigiri piece was really good, flavours were on point but that's about the only highlight of the night. Other appetizers were really just overpriced items, nothing special.Service on the other hand was mediocre at best. Don't want to get into details but let's just say I didn't feel the customer service quality, especially this type of restaurant. Felt like some HK cafe waitresses give better services. All in all, if you want a low entry point of Omakase experience, go for it. But personally I would rather dish out an extra 100-200 and try other higher end spots. As the complexity of flavours and customer services of those restaurants are miles ahead of Toshi Ryoriten. Or if you wanna eat tasty budget sushi, there are plenty of other options. Thank you

Nice quality omakase. If you prefer to look at the chef making sushi for you, please call and make reservation at sushi bar.Service is good, very delicious, and great value!

Ordered Toshi Omakase. Lots of fatty fish, could add some veggie dish to balance. Fresh ingredients and well prepared food. Took 2.5hr to finish.

Superior Omakase experience. A wonderful night with tasty dishes, warm service and outgoing chefs.Takes about 3 hours to finish.

Had the $90 omakase menu, I have to say you can not compare this to the high end places in DT toronto (miku, yasu etc), of course this is cheap compare to those too.The quality is a 2/5 for me, since it’s not expensive, I give it a 3/5.

A little on the expensive side but money well spent. Food was great and a touch above other Japanese and sushi houses. Get the bar seat if you can so you can see the chefs in action.
