It's sometimes hard to find decent seafood, so I was intrigued by Saigon Star. It's a long-standing establishment that's been open for well over 25 years in Richmond Hill, and even years before that in downtown Toronto. Vietnamese/Chinese cuisine on offer, with hot takes on curry crab and other seafood beyond pho and rice. It's usually quite packed for dinner, and it was the same even on a weekday evening. We came to taste their recipe for success.Started with their pho which was a bit more intense than the soup elsewhere but on the saltier side. Next came the Chilli Paste Fresh Clams that had great balance of sweet & spicy flavour, and was popular with the whole fam. Crab Curry then landed and took up center stage. This is the dish to get down right dirty with gloves, with rich creamy curry sauce, and fresh BC crab meat. I followed the advice of others to order roti to scoop the curry, delicious!Rack of Lambs that then arrived was well-seasoned and grilled to medium rare; it was a bit too tough for the others so I enjoyed it on my own. Last but not least, a plate of Grilled Jumbo Prawns filled what little space was left at our table; all that head butter and succulent prawn meat was perfect with the vermicelli. For dessert, piping hot taro sago pudding wrapped up a great meal.Seafood was reasonably priced for the quality of dishes, including seasonal price for the crab. Now I understand why one of the popular chefs in the city rated the Crab Curry at Saigon Star as his favourite meal. The owner seemed disappointed when we didn't finish the large crab portion upon asking for the bill! Not to worry him, we packed the rest of the curry which was just so good.

Excellent experience going to this restaurant. The curry crab does not disappoint, but goes beyond all expectations. Make sure to get the fried pancakes with the curry crab for the best flavor combination. Lamb chops and grilled jumbo shrimp was amazing as well. The servers are amazing as well. Thank you so much for the excellent experience. Definitely be back again and always.

There are many delicious dishes here. Especially the crab curry and roasted lobster with tamarind. The service is very professional and fun. I come here very often.

Order the curry crab, pineapple fried rice and Viet spring rolls. The fish sauce was excellent. The spring rolls and roti were a little too hard. The crab was big but the sauce was ok. The fried rice was good but small.

Really enjoyed dinner here, one of my favorite restaurant everCurry Crab is huge and they provided us more bread to eat with it

The freshness of the mango salad is a good starter to prepare your palate and appetite for the stronger taste of the upcoming dishes. The nam-yu chicken was very juicy and tender and the Malaysian anchovy seafood was really tasty too; highly recommend to serve with rice or roti, which balances the stronger taste. A good choice for friends and family gatherings.

One of my favourites spot for authentic Vietnamese food. Great atmosphere inside the restaurants and the customer service is even better! In terms of quality, I really loved it. The Curry Crab is in fact as good as it looks, and really, any of their seafood options are a major hit. I loved the jumbo prawns and basil chilli clams as well. Hoping to be back soon to try more items from the menu!

Great ambiance and the seafood is magnificent lived the staff as they come timely with refills and new plates for you as yours gets filled up. The Singapore fried rice was amazing full of flavour and spices it’s a must try if you’re u certain what to order. Also try the pepper lobster dish it was great pan fried style, but still tasty.

I love the interior and the food was pretty good. I would say if you are someone that doesn't like spicy food you should get the pad thai here. My sister got a coconut curry chicken noodle soup which also was not spicy. Service was bomb.
