Went to King Eddy for Brunch on Monday. They kindly dried off an outdoor table for us, and let us sit outside though it was a bit chilly outside. Server was excellent and our food was great! Took care to help us with a lactose free meal for one of the guests and offered a waffle with fruit that we didn’t find in the menu. 2 of us had the fried chicken Benny with country gravy and it was great. Great breakfast menu. Highly recommend for breakfast in the market!
Great portion size. Servers were excellent. We were able to have our dog on the patio. (She enjoyed herself). We will return.
We dropped in to The King Eddy, in the middle of the ByWard Market, for lunch on a weekday. My companion had the Whole Earth Salad (CA$16.99 in 2022) and said it was delicious. There was lots of different kinds of lettuce, cranberries, cucumber, grape-tomatoes, sunflower seeds, feta cheese, pickled beets, carrots and more. My companion said she would come back again just for this salad.I had the King Eddy Burger (CA$12.00) and, as previous reviews said, the hamburger patties were excellent: home-made, juicy, and fresh. The rest of the burger was... well, fine. I have noticed a trend to make hamburger buns very sweet and spongy and this burger was no exception. The sweetness was a distraction from the succulent hamburger patties, and I wonder if a whole-wheat or a multi-grain bun would be a better foundation both in terms of taste and "structural integrity". There is an option to substitute a lettuce leaf for the bun for a Gluten Free option. This might be a better way to enjoy the delightful burger patties. We shared a small Poutine - good thing we ordered a small because there was plenty to share! I really wanted to have the Poutine because where I'm from the Poutine has either been gentrified with truffle oil or other such frufru ingredients or downgraded to soggy fries, grey chicken gravy and a whisper of "cheese" and call it done. Not at the King Eddy! The fries were firm and plentiful, the gravy was hearty and flavourful, and the cheese curds were so fresh they nearly squeaked against your teeth. Heaven. The staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was about half-full and the food came quickly. The King Eddy has a road-side diner ambiance – warm and comfortable. We’d go back for the Whole Earth Salad (and perhaps the Poutine if we’re feeling decadent).
The Club... Holy Fuzz, I have never had a better club(even when I make my own) the Chicken strippers (two orders) the Chili cheese dog and the Queens benedict(eggs Benny with smoked salmon) were all outstanding...The fries... well they were cooked, akin to how revolting peasants were cooked with boiling oil poured from castle walls. Burnt, like anyone hiding in the trees when the napalm dropped, flash fried like the town of Chernobyl. Now when asked how everything was ihad mentioned how the fries were burnt. And our server brought us a token serving of fresh fries for the 4 of us that had the fries cooked 15 inches from the surface of the sun.And the washrooms are downstairs... no fun for those with mobility issues.
Husband and I had breakfast at King Eddy on a rainy Sunday morning. Although the place seemed packed to us, we heard the owner (we think he was the owner) say it was a slow morning. I guess we got lucky not to have to wait for a table!Service was excellent, the staff super attentive, nice, helpful and all with a smile. The food was simply amazing! We both had the King Eddy breakfast with bacon and rye bread, but my eggs were poached and my husband’s were scrambled. The eggs were perfect, not too cooked, not too runny. The bacon was crisp without being dry and the breakfast potatoes simply melted in your mouth. These were NOT McCain tater tots. These were home made, cooked from scratched, seasoned to perfection breakfast potatoes. Pretty much the best I had in years!I highly recommend King Eddy for all this plus the prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and the service. Next time we are in town, we’ll come back for sure!
Ordered the King Eddy burger, the club, onion rings, chicken fingers and poutine... everything was DELICIOUS! I think the club would be easier to eat if the chopped up the chicken though. The poutine was a pinch salty BUT that's how I like it. I would recommend but definitely go eat at the restaurant.
70$ bill for eggs Benedict, a lettuce wrapped burger with a can of coke rootbeer and sweet potato fries.Served home fries that are ready for the trash telling me they're delicious.Served fries that contain gluten to a customer with gluten allergies after being told of gluten allergies.Huge waste of money, left hungry and my girlfriend was sick all night.Probably not an establishment to put your trust in the service or restaurant if you have allergies.I would recommend one of the other locations in the area; they are very nice.
Thanks "King" Eddy and his team to provide great brunch for 7 of us this morning. Every dishes are great and delicious. Thank you.
Ordered pick up. Food was tasty but chicken was not three pieces on the bone. One was a weird little nub of breast meat. Not good value for $25. Had I been in restaurant I would have asked for replacement. Maybe if I had been in restaurant they wouldn’t have served that…
A great place to go because there's something for everyone! I went there for the whole earth salad and it was awesome! Truly so fresh and a huge size so very filling! The vinaigrette was just the right amount and really delicious. On the other hand, my partner is more of a meat-eater and really enjoyed their NFC chicken sandwich (the fries that came with were awesome as well). If you go between 3-6pm you can access their happy hour drink menu and they are pretty good value! Really beautiful interior of the restaurant and the staff was so friendly and helpful. A unique take on the classic diner - 5 stars!
