My Wife and I love an actual authentic Thai food. We have tried more than 15 Thai restaurants in Ottawa and hands down Sweet Basil is one of the Top restaurants to satisfy your Thai cravings. We tried their crispy duck, red curry, beef noodles, Jungle curry and every dish was just Excellent!! There seasonal dessert Mango sticky rice is amazing as well! You get those authentic flavours along with just the right spice level! Any Thai food lover MUST try this place and won’t be disappointed. There portion size is huge and no compromise on flavours
Just a side note. It is not the customers' responsibility to advocate how spicy they would like it to be. All thai restaurants I've been to have always given an option. It is the restaurants responsibility to make sure the customer has a positive experience. Secondly, there should be a description of what kind of vegetables are in the dish. Again, it is not the responsibility to add information of what they are allergic to. There was no sympathy or compassion from the person I spoke to. I had an allergic reaction because the ingredients were not stated. Again, from other restaurants , I have been to add what is in there. I will not be ordering from this place again. She never even offered a refund. Plus, she acted like having an allergic reaction was nothing. FYI, allergic reactions can be mild to severe. Mine was minor; it was uncomfortable and not how I wanted to spend my Friday night. On a cellular level, it caused damage to my body, which now I have to repair with my herbal remedies and detox my body.
Without a doubt, the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Such a beautiful environment to spend a nice evening. All the food is so colourful too.I ordered the green curry with chicken and I was very satisfied with everything about it. Just the perfect flavour all around. I highly recommend this place for an excellent night out!
Our favourite Thai restaurant! Their food is amazing, such friendly staff too. Always enjoy their food whether dining in or from delivery.
Had a red curry dish (Panaeng, I think?) with added pineapples, and an order of sticky rice, and it was one of the best Thai meals I’d ever had. Simply delicious! Service was kind, atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend!
We love this little Thai on Bank St.I was amazed at the chicken satay on skewers, they we huge and juicy almost the perfect bite of chicken.I always get soup, I'm kind of in love with soups lately. I had the shrimp and coconut soup (sorry, I forgot the name), delicious as always.We got a Pad Thai shrimp, a chicken with a spicy sauce and a sizzling beef plate. Side of rice(s).It was, as always, some of our favourite foods, in an quiet, well decorated, clean, friendly restaurant where we always feel welcomed on the way in and full of love (and stuffed with yummy goodness) when we leave.Highly recommend!5/5

My fiance and I went on a date before the baby comes. We decided to try this place out as he loves thai food. We were seated quickly. The aroma in the room was nice (from the yummy Thai foods). The look was a bit tacky but gave off a comfy feel. It took 20 minutes to give our order. We waited 45-1hr to receive our food. Unfortunately we did not receive our appetizer, and the waiter did not know we didn't get it when I brought it up. Everything moved very slow. There were only 2 cooks in the kitchen it seemed and one of them was delivering food to tables? There were only 2 waiters/waitresses. Definitely not enough staff for a Friday night. Food wise, everything was fine. My pad Thai had good flavor, a bit spicy for my palette (my fault). My fiance had a seafood sizzling plate. It was only okay, sauce a bit salty, nothing special.
Love the Thai curry. Love the noodles. Love the rice. There are also vegan options if you want to skip on the meat and eggs. 10/10 would order again. See you soon my sweet basil.
The service was a bit slow but quite pleasant. The beer could be colder. The food was absolutely delicious!! Great Thai food. Easy to see why take out is so popular at this restaurant.
