We ordered the vegetarian platter along with fireworks sushi roll! I must say the sushi’s were really up to the mark. Not sure why the previous ratings are so low and seems to me like most people rated this place based on their cleanliness. We ordered on DoorDash so cannot comment on in restaurant experience. Why 4/5? There is always room for improvements with veg sushi :) mangoes in mango sushi can be replaced with sweeter mangoes and cucumber sushi can have a bit more creamcheese. Over all the 18 veg sushi (Avocado roll, sweet potato roll, mango roll, cucumber roll) and Firework sushi came with a tiny container of seaweed salad, miso soup( delicious) and all the typical condiments. All the veggie sushi’s were delicious.Cost was around $30 before tips and is good for 2 people.Update - July 31st, 2022This place is still as good as it can get, the shrimp-mango maki roll was on point, so were the sushi’s in the vegetarian combo. The mango’s were sweet and 24 sushi’s costed ~$30 with tax ( includes the combo and mango-shrimp tempura sushi) , incredible food and I’m definitely a repeat customer ❤️❤️❤️

Sushi Kan is my absolute favourite sushi spot! I've tried many.. But nothing beats this place. They're always super fast, even when it's busy. Friendly staff, good portions, and it's all you can eat.. So you can try new stuff out, get your favourites, whatever you want. Absolutely delicious, every time! :)

An all you can eat with a good variety of sushi, stir-fried, and deep-fried dishes but the building and menus could use some modernizing. Service is great, the food comes as soon as it’s ready and empty plates are cleared pretty fast. The sushi isn’t the best or freshest, but the beef dishes are tasty. The washrooms are small and dingy. Cost for lunch on a Sunday was $25 per person.

Food is amazing, but have gotten very low quality service every time I’ve gone. Had reserved a table for my artists’ birthday and had confirmed on the phone an hour before the booking. When we arrived (on time) we were told there was no booking and that we were lying they then ignored us until we left. So it’s a bit of up and a bit of down. The food is great though!

Restaurant could not sit a table for 7 without a reservation. Called and asked for reservation which we got immediately.. even though they said they could not accommodate thr walk in.First ticket submission went well. Second set they lost and we sat for 45 minutes waiting for food that never was submitted. After asking why the delay they said they never gave in our order.Food was good, will dine again and hope for a better experience.

This is a pretty good sushi restaurant! 2 or 3 of our orders weren't available, but other than that, the experience was enjoyable! The food was good and the staff were helpful! I personally enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone that hasn't tried it.

Great combos and decent price for takeout. The rolls are consistently yummy and we always feel like we get our money's worth!

Sushi KanA old college classic being just down the road from Algonquin, been there quite a it back in the day and the quality was always top notch.Unfortunately I found this week's lunch out with friends slightly skimpy on quality and amount of fish in my rolls, they raised their prices again since 6 months ago to 23$ for lunch when I remember 16$ for lunch 2 years ago.. wow crazy. They also charge for the tea now and if you ask for a side of sauce they charge for this also. The value proposition here alhas changed to a point where I rather just do the pay by the roll places as the quality is 10× better.Still a good spot though.

The restaurant doesn't look as fancy as other sushi places I've been too if you care about these things. The menu was pretty diversified and the quality of the food was decent, although one batch of sushi was rather empty (mostly rice) while the next was much better proportioned (fish to rice). I would recommend it.

Having recently been to the Sushi Kan location in the east end, I decided to try this location given my positive experience there. I couldn't have had a more different experience at the Merivale location.$22 for all you can eat lunch. Bland and distasteful sushi rolls. Mediocre and clueless staff. At least 1/3 order never showed up and replaced with other items we didn't order. Food basically thrown at you like you're a pig at a trough. Food very oily and served at room temperature.Toilets and general state of cleanliness is disgusting. Table, menu and chairs were greasy and dried food stuck on them. Not sure how this location stays in business, but I guess all the 5 star reviews must help. Don't waste your time, money and health.
