Definitely the best sushi in/around Ottawa. They prepare everything quickly, and the staff are very friendly!
We ordered a shrimps and veggie tempura combo, Philly rolls and the mega combo. Everything was great. Servers were great too and also took reservation over phone.
May 2022Second time coming this year. Quality of food and service are consistent. This time, additionally to the Sweet potato frenzy and Kamikaze, we really enjoyed the 88 sushi roll and the kiwi twist. Worst sushi of our lives! Realized too late my decision to try Sushi 88 were based on the fabulous reviews on here that in fact are 4 years old. Perhaps its the pandemic, maybe it’s moving from Montreal where we hold our sushi to high expectations but cmon Chinatown Ottawa what a complete ripoff and letdown. Seriously the ice water served was more satisfying in the heatwave yesterday!!! We’ve had fresher, tastier, more innovative sushi from our local grocery store or sushi chains in both Montreal and Ottawa. The avocado maki rolls were made of stale rice! the avocado was rock hard and flavourless, the smoked salmon nori same complaint, made hours before ….not fresh, no chew… nori was hard or stale, the prices outrageous 3 times the price of Montreal sushi for avocado maki for subpar sushi! The sashimi slightly fresher, was $17.00 an order, we were shocked. Right down to the soya sauce, it was also a huge disappointment bland , flavourless, not as sweet as Montreal nor did they offer any other condiments like kewpie mayos. I was wanting to lift our spirits, impress my son and I was left angry at the outrageous prices, poor quality and embarrassed by my city’s Chinatown.

Best sushi in Ottawa! The quality is always high. Tastes great and presentation is beautiful. Sweet Potato Frenzy / Dragon Roll and Salmon Battera are excellent.
I will admit the food was great but they gave me Veggie tempura instead of Veggie gyoza and forgot one of my sushi rolls which was a premium roll so more expensive as well. Had ordered for take out so was gone before I was able to have a look since they made it fresh and the waiter read the order back to me so I had trusted it would be right. Very upsetting wish I had a better experience because as I said the food was great and the wait wasn't very long.
I have enjoyed the sushi here - whether it is dine-in or takeout. Definitely one of my top sushi spots in Ottawa.
