We had the yellow fin tuna tartare, the mushroom risotto & the angus reserve striploin with wine and beer for drinks. The tuna was fresh and tasty. The highlight for us was the items served with the appetizers, was incredible tasty, especially the sundried tomato pate! I only had a bite of the steak which was really good but I wouldn't say out of this world. The risotto was my choice for main course and it was delicious, decent size portion, I was glad that I did not order anything else because I would not be able to eat it. The one thing I thought I could have had more was more cheese on the risotto. The service was nice, the hostess was very welcoming and allowed us to choose our table. They had outside seating area and a very beautiful decoration inside.
The pre-dinner bread is great! Very fluffy! Like an orange sauce (orange something, white one, forget the name), the shrimp are very tender and very fresh. Wanna to try the Duck, but it was sold out, so ordered the Ribeye, the mushrooms were a bit salty and the fries were great. The waiter recommended a martini, unique taste, not very strong, like it! The only problem is that it's a bit slow to serve. And sorry for broken a glass.
For that price range I had very high expectations! I mean if you pay 200$ per person, you just assume it will be great. There are some points why I am giving them 3 stars:1. Staff - we used to have very different experience for that class of restaurants. Staff at e18hteen wasnt really “interested” in serving tables. For examples, once we received all 3 starters they explained just one of them and then left. I was waiting for them to come back and to explain the rest.. or why would you explain just one of them? Are others not that special?2. Food - food was good, but for every dish I had tried a better version somewhere else. (And cheaper!) so I expected octopus to be much better from what I had somewhere else because it costs 3 time more… and it wasnt.
e18hteen has been one of my favourite restaurants. I loved the ambiance, and the location of the restaurant was perfect whenever we had visitors from out of town. The seafood here was always very fresh. All dishes were super nicely presented. We ate the seafood and meat with minimal sauces so we still tasted the sweet and fresh taste. The desserts lack wow factors and were mediocre.
We attended a charity dinner and really enjoyed ourselves - four chefs, one course each, and a paired wine for each course. The food was delicious as were the wines. The staff were very friendly and the venue was excellent. The one negative I would mention is that it got quite noisy, making conversation somewhat difficult. Some sound baffles might help.
Phenomenal fine dining experience - arguably one of the best in Ottawa!! these guys are the masters of their craft in every shape and form - the service was top notch, I believe our main server's name was Jason, and he was an absolute beauty... Checked up on us regularly and made for great conversation/gave us lots of great suggestions & info, while also giving us lots of room to enjoy ourselves and the food... which was out of this world!!! The Foie gras had lots of interesting taste/texture combinations with the various sauces/chocolate crumbles it was served with. HUGE portions of duck/steak cooked to perfection for our main courses - steak was on the saltier side but delicious nonetheless. We really appreciated the fine attention to detail, both for the food and the service we received - they noticed we were taking photos of the engagement rings we had just picked up at the mall, and gave us a celebratory dessert which was a very kind gesture :)) we will definitely be back!
OUTSTANDING!!! 6 Stars. What a pleasure. Crisp white linen. Zak our server was attentive and obviously very experienced, actually listening to us, pacing our dining experience perfectly. Negroni to start. Nice French red which went well with two PERFECTLY cooked steaks. As an ex restaurant owner it’s nice to know these oasis’s of dining pleasure are still out there. Has a very pleasant chat with the manager who oversaw that we were enjoying our evening out.We came from Waterloo for a five day stay to show our support for the Fairmont and fine restaurants affected buy the stupid blockade that affected so many. If you love good food you won’t be disappointed at 18.
Exceptional restaurant! Fantastic service
This is my go to place for celebrations. Took the team out for a much delayed Christmas dinner. The staff were wonderful and clearly glad to have clients back in greater numbers. The mains and dessert were ok but didn't have the finesse of pre-pandemic. The octopus was overdone and the risotto just didn't have a lot of flavour.
The food was incredible! We got the scallops as an app and steaks for dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly. The staff was super attentive and helpful when we had questions. They even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary! Would definitely recommend.
