Most authentic (north) Indian food I have had in the Ottawa area. Extremely delicious and bursting with so much flavour. A wide variety of dishes at decent prices makes it a must try!
Visited their newly opened Ottawa downtown location. Their amazing customer service in addition to the delicious buffet made my day. Thank you Mumbai Masala Grill for the good time!!!!
we went during the week for buffet after checking their website and making sure it was in the menu. After reaching the restaurant, we were told that there was no buffet and only a la-carte available. There was another group that had come for the buffet and were disappointed as well. I asked why the website mentions about buffet, was told only downtown branch has buffet. Taste wise, food was good. 3 stars was for misinformation. This is at the Orleans location.
My family and I have had this ongoing competition to find the best Indian restaurant in Ottawa. We all live in different areas which means I had the pleasure of trying a dozen amazing Indian restaurants.. That being said.. Mumbai Masala was a crowd pleaser by every single member of my family who is very familiar with Indian cuisine. The staff is extremely personable, the food speaks for itself and I would be a loyal costumer with this aspect alone. I would describe it as unmatched and consistent which is exactly what you should be looking for when picking a favourite restaurant. They have a buffet once per week which is great when trying different Indian dishes and not wanted to order a full dish of something you haven't tried. You walk in, and wow it smells beyond amazing. I love this place, you will too!!!
Equally as important to me as quality of food is customer service. My husband just placed an order through uber eats and when we realized things were missing and called the restaurant, the guy who answered constantly just deflected blame onto uber eats, even after I repeatedly pointed out that the driver receives a stapled and tied bag so ultimately packaging and verifying contents is the restaurant's responsibility. The driver doesn't have xray vision. He coudlnt have cared less and just kept saying go complain to uber eats. And it wasn't until the end of a prolonged back and forth when I pointed out that amidst all the blame shifting he hadn't once even apologized for the inconvenience or the error that he hastily threw out an incredibly insincere sounding apology. We have ordered from this restaurant often, for our home and larger community gatherings, but that'll be the last time we do that. Unacceptable customer service, and I'm a super non-confrontational person who rarely writes reviews like this so had he started with a sincere apology the conversation would have gone entirely differently.
The chef/cook is a national treasure. They must be protected at all costs. Their dishes have excellent flavours. All their vegetarian dishes made me forget that it's vegetarian - and I love my meats.
Every Chicken Dish is superb. Spices are on point. Nan Bread second to none. I happened to meet the Chef when picking up my order. Absolute great service. Kind service and Vishal took the time to explain another dish when I asked about it. I keep coming back to this location.
Just ordered takeout for the first time from them and the food was amazing! My husband and I were really impressed and will absolutely be going back.
Absolutely amazing dinner, the friendliest owner who spent time explaining various Indian dishes and difference between north and south cuisine. The food is out of this world, lots of flavour, the atmosphere is warm and authentic. This place is a MUST if you like Indian food :)
This is, by far, the best Indian food we have eaten in Ottawa. The spices are perfect, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous (unlike another well-known place in Orleans, whose portions are tiny).A great place, run by good people.
