I found the food to be pricey. This is what you get for $18. It came with bacon, which we had taken off. We asked to substitute bacon with either tomatoes or avocados and the staff member said it would be an additional $7. We said no thank you. Later we had the manager bring out our food and we let him know about our disappointing attempt to sub something else in. He served us some tomatoes and avocados complimentary and that made up for some our experience. However I'm not sure if I would visit again.
Morning Owl is a great place. My kids got pancakes and waffles and liked them a lot. The icing sugar on top made them look extra delicious ?. In my eggs were the HUGEST yolks you have ever seen! There was also some fresh fruit on the side of all the plates. There were a lot of plants. Very calming. I recommend it.
Nice cafe to have brunch in! They were busy when we went, but not to the point of being crowded. I ordered the rose waffles and the plate was beautifully presented. The waffles and yogurt were tasty, but I found the portion size a bit small for brunch. I also got a mixed berries banana smoothie and it was very tasty, would recommend!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Do not go here if you are Muslim or a minority which our group happened to be both. I’ve never been so publicly disrespected as I’ve been today. My friends and I made our orders as per the menu which DID NOT specify the full ingredients. The eggs Benedict on the menu does not state that it comes with bacon. The minute we had told the waitress we do not eat bacon and that the menu did not specify this she responded by rolling her eyes and being extremely rude. As the food continued to come out we noticed the chicken and waffle we had also ordered came with bacon, which we had just told her we do not eat. My friend had already mentioned no bacon at the register but this waitress was insistent that we didn’t. She responded “Next time please read the menu” and as we were responding that we indeed did mention our specifications she walked away. It became extremely clear she was upset however we were extremely nice about the entire situation! In 2022 how is this discrimination still occurring? It didn’t end there. When our food returned we continued eating as usual when we found bacon chunks in our meal. The fact that we were served the exact same meal we returned is shocking! If food allergies are taken seriously what is the issue with religious exemptions? She then gave us the hardest time taking accountability for returning our meals with bacon in it. She stated “Well it looks like you almost finished it..” and “I guess I’m the one in the kitchen putting bacon on sandwiches”. We couldn’t even get a word in. Also, of course we ate our meal but why would we continue eating a meal with bacon that we can’t eat due to our religion? We were not given even an apology. The worst experience at a restaurant by far. At no point did any manager or anyone come to our aid.
We were in the mood for breakfast and ended up visiting this neat shop. It was our first time. The place is clean and there is a lot of room inside to dine as well as a nice little space outside if you enjoy patio season. We love the neighborhood where it is located because the roads aren't busy with cars and the people who visit seem to be local. As for the food, the croissant breakfast sandwich and the Italian sandwich we got were both delicious! We could have gone for seconds! The coffee and cappuccino were also nice and served in different mugs which I thought added a level of appeal. The chocolate cake was alright. It was the last piece left so I am not sure how fresh it was. They did have other items which I didn't get a chance to order but we will be going back and trying out more items!
This place has so much potential yet some of their staff are so ridiculously lazy and have zero respect for their customers. Rather than waiting 15 with half a dozen others at the counter I went to sit down and of course the coffee I ordered was sitting there getting cold. I then requested some utensils to which I was asked to come and get it ! I am okay with doing a little work myself at establishments. When you charge almost 6 dollars for what is essentially a coffee with foamed milk there is some expectation of "service". Oh and not to mention a tip jar and credit card tip request as well.Based on other negative reviews.. I am not the only one with issues here.Their location and interior setting are what draw people in but beyond that they do very little in terms of customer service. They seemed to have gone down hill as a couple of the decent staff are no longer even there! Great job management. ?
Try the avocado smash
Normally love their brunch but today's fried chicken was dry, overcooked, and looked burnt. I was really disappointed because it's been good probably 9/10 times. Will give it another chance. We always get a fried chicken and waffle sandwich, and the avocado smash and split them. Would normally recommend. Have had it delivered and have done takeout. I hope the consistency comes back!
Really disappointed with our first experience. While the atmosphere was wonderful, the food and service really left us wondering if we would ever go back.- Food came one piece at a time, and not all together. This is ridiculous. While we were only a party of 2, one part of one meal came (omelette/salad), then part two (toast, and bacon) then 10 mins later, the second meal (Eggs Benny). I had requested eggs runny, they were FULLY cooked, and with sauce on the side, they came DROWNED in sauce, which was overpowering the whole dish. It was awful, and cold.I'm not sure why my order was not made or presented as requested, or why the order came to us in 3 parts, but it was not a pleasant experience. What we did enjoy, was the London Fogs (best I've ever had!) and the atmosphere of the cafe. BUt I really struggled with the food, the accuracy and the timing of our meals. If I were to make a suggestion to present the whole order at one time, so that the meals remain warm, and one person isn't waiting while watching the other eat, it would have made for a much better experience. If I were to go back, I would probably simply order a tea or coffee to go, since the food left very little to be desired. It's really too bad... your reviews were so off the mark for our first experience.
The food is delicious whenever myself and my girlfriend come here. One of the best brunches in the city! The staff is always super polite and helpful. Especially Reese who always goes the extra mile!Great place and worth a try if you’re ever in the west end.
