Simple done right. Smoked meat was so moist and flavorful; good fries cooked well; thick yummy gravy. Ordered ahead and picked up which was convenient. Inside is nice and a few tables to eat there. Everyone was very nice. Reasonable price. Will be coming back.
This place is a hidden gem! Not your typical thick batter on a fish and chip meal. Light, crisp and so satisfying! And their poutine? Amazing! The guys there are so friendly, we will definitely be back!
Gotta hand it to these guys for being open and operating on a backup generator during the power outages on May 23.Very friendly staff, excellent lunch combo. I'm picky when it comes to authentic Montreal smoked meat, but these guys did it perfectly.5/5 will definitely be back.

The smoked meat is fantastic but the fries!!! OMG. Better than any chip truck anywhere!!!
I had higher hopes. The prices were reasonable but there was nothing outstanding about their smoked meat. The sandwich was only slightly warm when it was served and the accompanying french fries were not very fresh tasting and were really small lengths, maybe one inch on average.I was hoping for a little more ambience as well but it was pretty plain inside though clean.A big disappointment was the inability to order a beer to wash the sandwich down with.Staff was friendly and attentive though.
We ordered take out for the first time today and it was INCREDIBLE! The smoked meat was absolute perfection. My husband grew up in Montreal and said this was on par with Schwartz’s. The sandwiches were huge, and the fries were excellent as well. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Delicious local spot for Montreal style smoked meat, arguably the best in Ottawa. Large portioned sandwiches (which let's face it... in North America, the bigger the better when it comes to food and these guys are true to that), unique and rustic fries, and pretty decent creamy coleslaw too. I have no complaints. Give Markie's some love O-Town. Have ordered them from Doordash several times, and only once did they forget a special instruction I asked (to provide napkins). Such a small gripe, I don't care. If you're visiting Ottawa, try this little spot. If you're coming up from New York State or elsewhere in the States and want to try Montreal style smoked meat, an iconic Canadian meat, this is probably the best place in the Capital to get it. You won't regret it. Not a chance. It's also a great value.

Love how generous the portions are from Markies!! Their smoked meat sandwiches are to die for. The meat cuts are super tender and juicy, and the flavors were great. Their fries are also super amazing. Really enjoyed our lunch from here! :)
