Didn’t have the best experience here. We came here early in the evening for take away dinner. We had a party of 3 and decided to get the Kamayan Box C to share. This was $77. The shrimp was missing. It wasn’t quite enough food for 3 people even though the staff told us it would be enough for about 4. Flavour-wise, it was ok. Having recently had a kamayan box from another restaurant in the city, I have to say, their milk fish was rather burnt and dry and lacking in flavour. Overall, not the worst experience. The staff was courteous. But not good value for price and quality also had room for improvement.
First time diner turned into forever customer! Lola's just opened their new location around the corner from me and it is truly too close for comfort!We ordered the fried chicken, beef short ribs (w garlic rice and plantains), and mango salad, and all three were absolutely incredible. A perfect dinner combination. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside. Short ribs, which were covered in delicious banana ketchup (which is wildly delicious!) were perfect. The mango salad was the perfect level of sour, and provided a perfect side to cut through and complement the delicious chicken fat.Already looking forward to going back and trying the entire menu.Go now and go often!
Stumbled into their temporary home on Bronson and Gladstone and was pleasently surprised. Had been looking for Filipino food in the core for some time and those Beef Ribs and garlic rice + did the trick. Will be going many times over to try the rest and appreciate the hospitality!
Amazing! I got combination D and it was absolutely delicious. The food has amazing flavours and tastes very clean as if you just ate a healthy meal. I have to say this might be favourite spot in Ottawa
The CHICKEN ADOBO is absolutely beautiful. Not just saying this cause my part Filipino. But It brought me back to the times my grandma was cooking it. Awesome job Kim!!
Amazing presentation, great food and we had plenty to go around everyone was well served. Lola's Kitchen knows how to cater to events with ambience and overall great experience. Would recommend especially for special group events.
My family and I ordered food for Mother's Day and it was delicious! I personally enjoyed the BBQ Ribs and the plantains. The owner was lovely, walked me to my car and carried the order for me. They also sent text messages to help us find the (now old) location. That was great, we would have been lost without it.I just removed a star because I think it was a bit expensive for the order we got (Combo, BBQ Box for 4, around 150$ with tax). I was a bit surprised by the portion we had for 150$, but I do understand that a lot can go into setting a price (workforce, time, ingredients).I will still be back and will try other combos/ orders! The staff is nice, food is good, the quality is there, so I can accept the occasional expense! Overall, I recommend the restaurant!
I ordered the BBQ platter, pancit, and egg rolls for my son's birthday party and it was a hit! All the teens loved it and devoured it in minutes! The food presentation was lovely, as to be expected. And of course, the chef, Kim, was a delight to talk to and accommodated my timely request. He got my food ready for pickup on time! Would highly recommend!
We ordered the Valentine’s Day Dinner for 2 and it was delicious! It was my first time trying Filipino cuisine, but my husband has eaten it before. Everything was very fresh and we could tell it was cooked with love!The box had Garlic Fried Rice, Beef Tapa, BBQ Chicken Inasal, Plantain, Lumpia and Mango Salad. Highly recommend this yummy local gem!
Just had Lola's Kitchen for my son’s birthday dinner…and WOW! This man knows how to cook and present his food! And the best part? He goes beyond good customer service - he’s a GENUINELY KIND person. He bought my son a dinosaur gift (because I mentioned my son loves dinos)…like what?! Who does that?? Kim Epino does! Because he’s awesome and his food is AHHHH-MAZING!! Thank you for making my son’s bday extra special ❤️
