La Bottega has been my go-to for an amazing fresh made sandwich for a long time. The pricing was great and the sandwiches are massive. They really loaded on the meat! Often you couldn't finish the sandwich and still had another half for the next day. it was incredible value! Sadly, my days of craving my La Bottega sandwiches are over. The last 3 times that I have been there, they have REALLY skimped on the meat. I mean drastically! There is far more bread and topping then there is meat which doesn't even make it a decent sandwich. And on top of this, the price went up. I would have understood a price increase IF the sandwiches were of the same quality and size. However, to only get 2 thin slices of ham and 2 thin slices of turkey, compared to what they used to be like, is absolutely NOT worth the price. The first time it happened I actually asked an older woman who works there (maybe owner?) if they had decreased their meat portions on the sandwich (the bag was incredibly light and if you are a regular there you know the bags always have heft!She quickly said that they hadn't changed anything and asked to see my sandwich. She said that it was wrong and that she'd fix it. She went behind the counter and loaded it up like they normally do. My 2 other friends got the tiny serving sandwiches but didn't ask for a fix. La Bottega, people are going to come to this same conclusion very quickly once they continuously get a skimped out sandwich. Go back to the healthy meat servings you did before! It's what you were great for! Now it's nowhere near worth the cost of them. It's unfortunate that I have to find a new favorite sandwich spot :(
If you like food and the finer things in life .. and all things essentially Italian. You need to go to La Bottega Nicastro in the ByWard Market is the spot for you. Lovely imported cookies and sweets. Pasta galore. All the condiments and antipasto type foods you can possibly want .. and the deli meats and cheeses are **chefs kiss** need a quick espresso or the kind of build your own sandwich that will make Tony Soprano jealous.. this is your spot ! La Bottega even has a really cool selection of merch..Drop in check it out .. I can assure you it won’t be your last visit
I regret not visiting this place before! Never knew inside of the store was big and it had so many unique products to buy.I finally got my hands on chestnut puree! ?They also have pistachio cream, and triple chocolate biscotti which I liked very much.
If you haven't been here already you need to go! They have an awesome little shop where you can buy tonnes of different kinds of pasta and sauces! The deli inside makes delicious sandwiches and you can also buy Italian wines from here! Needless to say this is a one stop shop to grab a great sandwich, drink and dessert for a little romantic meal or picnic! We loved this place and the staff were friendly too.

They have the best sandwiches ever. And I don’t want to start a holy war over Dirienzo’s or Bottega but I personally like the Bottega ones better. Also, they have great groceries and an awesome deli. The prices are obviously a bit higher but I think their prepared foods are really fairly priced and are out of this world good.
Such amazing sandwiches! My husband will often bring a couple home for lunch after he's done work. My FAVE part about their sandwiches is how well they stand up for a day. I might only eat half and by the next day it's still as fresh as the day before. I don't know how they do it but you never find sandwiches that don't go mushy after just a couple hours!
