The reason Koichi Ramen is probably my fav ramen shop in Ottawa is because of their wide variety of appetizers! Customization is in the palm of your hands (literally, just point and ask). Food is delicious, no complaints! If you like takeout containers, they have the (rare) white box that my partner loves lol
The broth was good but the pork belly didn’t have any taste to it. Same thing for the appetizers. There’s no marinate. Ika, chicken, potato… Everything is counting on the dipping sauce. Service and ambience is no issues, but I wouldn’t come back for the food.
Went there recently and ordered a chicken miso tamen in veg broth. The portion was generous and flavour was good too. The decor and ambiance in the place is cozy, great for a summer evening, although would recommend calling ahead for groups larger than 4.I had to knock off 2 stars off the review based on the service. We wanted to start off with appetizers but felt a bit pressured to order the ramen right away although the restaurant was not too busy at the time, and we wanted to take our time. When being served, the servers' hands touched the parts of the utensils that would be touching the food and going in our mouths; this was a big NO for me. At the end, they were rushing to clear the table while one of us was still eating, and only asked us if we wanted to keep our unfinished appetizer as an afterthought. At that point, they were getting busy with more customers but I still think this could've been handled better.I would go again for the food but, if the service is the same, I'm sure I can find another ramen spot.
Ramen is simple and also the chicken gyoza. But the glass of water was so greasy. So I asked for a new one and it was worse. There was a piece of green onion on it ! Omg how can you serve your customers like this?! This is the first and last time in single visited. Very disappointed.
Very authentic Japanese Ramen flavor, not too salty, busy on weekends. Staff are friendly and nice. Parking could be an issue, street parking available but hard to find a lot of times. Can park at back streets and walk over.
Soup, noodle, pork belly and egg are the four most critical components to me to justify how good a bowl of ramen is. We ordered the house special ramen and soupless soba. Based on a scale of 10, the egg (9/10) is just at the perfect saltiness with the yolk just stops running; the soup (8) is creamy but not greasy; the noodles (8/10) are very chewy; the pork belly (5/10) was thinly cut and slightly fried but lacks of flavor. The soba noodles was a bit over salty and greasy so that I could only eat a little. Both appetizers, takoyaki and chicken karaage, are decently cooked, although the dipping sauce (mustard and mayo) is quite unique and very strong in terms of the taste.
I loved the miso soup and chicken. That is what delicious tastes and looks ?? like. I am sure going back there. The servers were so polite and courteous.
Pretty good ramen here. The egg was a bit disappointing, overcooked (yolk was partially solid), it did not taste marinated, and you only get half of an egg. The broth lacked the complex depth and flavor of ramen from some other places. The pork belly was quite tough compared to the melt in your mouth kind from other places, but it was at least caramelized.Overall its pretty good but not my favorite.
deliscious ramen highly recommend. friendly staff and quick service.
First time there. Menu is super simple…pick a broth, pick a protein. Add extras if you wish. Have an appetizer. We split the octopus appetizer and it was very chewy (the reason I rated 4 instead of 5). The ramen was so flavourful and every ingredient had such a wonderful taste. I had the House broth, pork belly ramen.
