I have been wanting to try this place for a while. On a nice spring day I went in for a late lunch. The person at the cash informed me they were entirely out of meat and only had the vegetarian burger. I went for it, as there was no other option. I added fries and a root beer at $18 pre-tip. There was only one other table and they knew the staff. It took 15 minutes, which seemed kinda long as there was no one else waiting for food. I was in the resutaurant for 40 minutes and there was no walking or pick uber orders. The employee handed me the bag, I wanted to eat in cause I was hungry. I sat down and opened it up, no napkins, dips or drink. I went to the cash and waited to request these items, the worker came from the kitchen area and seemed annoyed.The burger was tasty but sloppy, the lettuce could have been broken up a little more, the fries needed a minute longer in the frier. The food was alright but for the hype of the place and the price point I expected a better quality experience. Half way through my meal a few young staff came in and were excited. I really enjoyed their enthusiasm and thought about how they had their work cut out for them, likely having to prepare a bunch of meat for the dinner rush. Their loud conversation could be heard from the back to my window seat, suddenly it turned to discussing sexual escapades. Something meant more for the clubs? I was excited to try this place, but was quite dissapointed. I tried the chicken doner box & cheese and the original German doner sandwich.It was way too greasy!! I'm not sure if all doner kabobs are like this. I definitely prefer shawarma over this as it's no where near as greasy.Other than that, the packaging was excellent and the sauces were good too.
Tasty and filling! The sauces add a good flavour boost.
I've had both German style kebab shops downtown and it's hard to pick a favourite, they're both so good. GDK is very generous with the sauces, seems every order comes with all three! The chicken sandwich with everything on it just really hit the spot, the bread is fantastic and it was overflowing with toppings, in a good way. Special note for Jan 2022, thank you very much to the staff who enforced proper public health measures despite an adamant anti vaxxer's demand.
Tastes great...not your traditional shawarma. Serving sizes are decent so great value for money....and it is certified Zabiha halal. A must try if you are in the area!
Great kebab! Large portion. Will keep coming back when we are in the area.
Really good kebab, I prefer chicken meat version. Bread is crusty but melt in mouth. I will really happy to have a GDK on my town.
The food is so delicious. Best doner got in Canada! The staff was really polite, friendly and professional.Cozy place to dine in.Recommand the original german doner kebab .... fries are sooo goooood too.
My husband and I always go here it’s really good ! We’ve been going since they opened but unfortunately they’re sandwiches got smaller then before all the sudden.. but food always taste really good !
The food is ok but the service is terrible and very hostile. A few week ago , I ordered online through their website, waited 45 minutes and once there I was told that the person who received the order put it on the wrong pile and that I had to wait. I was not thrilled because I was in a hurry , it was lunch time. But, mistake can happen, so I did not say anything and wait. Tonight , I decided to try that place again. I ordered online and showed up at the pickup time that was indicated on the order. Once again when I arrived, I was informed that my order was not ready. So I took a seat and waited. After 10 minutes, I inquired to the person at the cash what was happening with my order. She told me it was out of her control and I saw her asking what was happening with my order at the kitchen crew. They did not answer. Another 5 minutes later,I realized that people that arrived after me and who did not order online had their food served. So asked again the status of my order. She asked the kitchen again , no answer. So I asked to be refund and then she asked very firmly to the kitchen for the sandwich, then finally one of the cooks activated and produced a sandwich. I won't return there anymore and I don't recommend that place. Oh ,I forgot to mention that it was not busy at all.
