A wide selection of dishes that are clearly freshly prepared- not an easy task for a buffet. Ate here several times and was always impressed by the variety of dishes on offer, different styles of cuisine, and the relaxed dining room. Top marks for authenticity and chefs’ creativity. Every time I have been, I am reminded of my travel in India. Can’t recommend it enough.
We went for the buffet. The server was a nice man. He checked in on us often and cleared the dishes promptly. As for the food at the buffet, it's a good option for anyone who loves to eat a lot. Quantity wise they hit the mark. The quality however isn't the best. The food lacked the heat that Indian food generally has. The samosas seemed like they were old and fried twice and the filling was over salted. The naan bread was nice but has to be ordered separately. 3 naans cost a little over 7 bucks. The desserts were ok. The gulab jamun was good but everything else was just alright. I don't think we will be going back only because we realize the food will always be the same in terms of quality for a buffet.
I liked the sitting area and a some antique indian decore. They had buffet option as well, it was $23 per person. I felt price of dishes were a bit on higher side but good quantity, you will get papad as a compliment. Along with Paneer mughlai we got rice as a compliment. You will find a perfect Indian vibes in here. Halal non-veg was available that's a plus point for me :) just ask them to bring Naan along with dish because they serve Naan first and had to wait for vegetables to come till then Naan was cold. I must recommend to go and taste different dishes here.
Very nice experience. The waiters were professional, patient and polite. They let my kids "practice their English".The food was very good, the buffet lets you taste a lot of different dishes.
I liked the interior design. Service was good. The buffet was just okay. Nice variety but it was not spicy enough for me. It wasn’t easy to find a parking spot nearby.
Honestly… if you loved them when you were dining in, you may hate them if you do takeout. I’m telling you right now, it’s no good! We actually have to drop the food off into a local garbage can due to it being criminally bad! I kept the lamb byriani but then just now found a random shrimp in it. What on earth? That could kill a person with an allergy.Anyway, the only reason we got Indian from here is because the place across the street (Mehfil), was closed due to COVID issues. We have learned our lesson.
East India Company was a staple for special occasions and dinner dates during the 8 years I lived in Ottawa. I have taken family and friends there from all walks of life and everyone is always so delighted with the absolutely delicious food and classy atmosphere. Recently visiting Ottawa I just wanted to get their food but dine in closed due to pandemic so I placed a large order for my family as I usually get the buffet due to how amazing all the variety is. Well it is still just as good! from the meat curries to the vegetarian plates, the samosas and naan. The service is still excellent and I just wish I could eat there more often. 5/5 every time, this is for sure one of my favourite restaurants in all of Canada.
Somerset location. I bought the rice pudding dessert to take out , They gave me rice that had already been cooked separately mixed with what seemed to be leftover/saved watery rice pudding liquid. Straight up disrespectful. Imagine loosing a solid client over a rice pudding. The fact I’m not Indian doesn’t mean I can’t tell what is what.
Food is great, we tried the supper buffet, all the main dishes that we tried are very good. i was expecting the food to be more spicy, but only few dishes had the hot/spices, the Tandoory chicken was one of them.the servers are friendly and kept checking if all is well and if we needed anything.the washrooms are clean.I really enjoyed my meal, and my visit, I recommend this restaurant, we will defiantly comeback .Keep up the good work.
Super generous! I ordered a combo for the 2 half dishes and asked for no rice(can't eat due to surgery)I was made aware the price could not be changed which was no problem! I opened my bag when I got home to see 2 full size dishes and no rice AND a salad made for me! I was shocked and was not expecting that and was fully prepared to pay for the normal 1/2 size each. Beyond impressed and as usual... their food smelled and tasted amazing! Thank you East India Company, you made my night!!!
