Downtown Ottawa has so many options to choose from.but we decided to try Browns Socialhouse. Their terrace is open but we sat inside seeing it was a bit windyWe were greeted by their friendly staff quickly, once we looked through the menu we knew exactly what to order. Nice variety in their menu, everything looked amazing , and the burgers.. massiveeeeeThe wait for the food was reasonable, watch the hockey games highlights and enjoyed our time. bar is located in the center of the restaurant and so many drinks to choose from. The food was greatI would go back on my next ottawa visit
The Downtown location is right on Elgin. The patio is quite large and the inside is aesthetically pleasing. It does a good job at presenting itself as a "high end" pub experience. The staff is friendly and the food is good. We had the Lettuce Wraps and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich.Unfortunately, the portions feel small, especially for the price point. I left the restaurant still feeling hungry despite having spent $60 for our meal. Although we came in with a group, the wait time was VERY long. We didn't order anything overly complex either (6 of 9 people ordered the Steak Frite) We waited over an hour for our food, without acknowledgement from the staff.This is our second time at Browns Socialhouse. The first experience felt similar to this one, which leads us to believe this may be the norm. Overall, we're feeling a little disappointed by the experience.
Wonderful experience! Our server, Mitch, was very kind, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. He suggested the Gyoza that were very tasty. The drinks were very well priced for the happy hour. Fast service, tasty food, and overall an absolutely fantastic experience.Definitely would recommend if you are in the downtown area, looking for reliable spot with a nice patio too!

Worked beside this place when they opened and only went for drinks the first few times on their patio and had a great time. Service was always fast and friendly.After going a few times for drinks decided to try their food and I was blown away. Even the sushi here is amazing which I did not expect from this type of restaurant. I’ve tried almost all their main meals and they have all been perfect. The happy hour deals are so good here and their house beer and wine are a great bang for your buck. Probably the best restaurant/bar on Elgin currently.
My favourite restaurant in town! Food is always delicious, with generous portions as well! The drinks are refreshing and make a perfect pick me up after a long day of work (especially social hour!!). The staff are friendly and attentive, and the management is so kind and accommodating. Atmosphere can’t be beat. Definitely a must try!!

Arrived very tired and jet lagged form multiple connecting flights. It was 4 degrees and due to the protests most places to eat eat were closed. We googled places open near us and found browns social house was a block away. They had a very eclectic menu and let me clarify being from the south, it was only 4 degrees, so location ment alot, and it was open. Outside looked awesome if it was summer time, inside was a mix of class and elegance with hipster bar. It was warm and comfortable. Due to the mandates, it was empty. We had to show proof of vaccination just to enter, but honestly I loved to quiet atmosphere and personal attention. Menu is crazy original. We had pork dumplings in chili sauce for appetizer. No picture because we devoured them so quickly. Some of the best burgers I've ever tasted. Honestly, top 10 burger of all time no matter what country. Also got a gralic butter steak cooked exactly as requested and very delicious. Now the drinks. Most of you know my reviews on drinks is considered on how well you can make a basic margarita. Its an easy drink but can be messed up just as easily. I also judge on simple options such as sugar on the rim verse salt and is there a fresh lime or orange or none at all etc. So simply put, top 3 margarita ever. And I've had alot. Staff was incredible, atmosphere was great and food delicious. If visiting Ottawa I recommend this place. It is however very popular we found out at night. We tried to go back for drinks and it was packed, reservation only. This shows just how popular to the locals it is as well. In a city full of great food and bars, browns social house nears the top of the list of all around quality.
We dined there at New Years Eve. Very pleasant service. I had poke tune bowl, I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend's stake was great too.
