Dropped in for dessert on a Tuesday night right after Trivia night and it was fairly empty. Service was okay, took longer than expected for just dessert, but definitely not attentive. We waited for our bill about 15 mins and finally just went to the bar to pay, as our server had apparently turned into the bartender or had been doing duel duty as it was quiet.Prices on par with other pubs I've visited. Interior is old style pub, kinda dim, and the music was loud. Probably won't go there again for awhile. The food we did have was delicious though!!

Perfect location for a pub which EXCEEDS expectations W/ great fare. Been there a few times & experienced accurate, speedy service from thoughtful, attentive staff. Sure, it's a chain, yeah it's on Ottawa's slowest street, but this one deserves a callout. The beer and drinks are served cold. Meals served hot - all tasty, well-portioned and presented attractively. NB it's a standard pub menu, yet it's seemingly done well... no surprises = SUCCESS these days (just imho). Ive tried items from each section/page, been satisfied each time.... I might break an oath & try cauliflower bites (how is that menu worthy?)Ottawa patrons have beef w/ rising prices & wine about labor-induced shortages... Yet this pub has found its comfy groove. The next time you're inevitably stuck in Merivale traffic, stop into the Barley Mow. You'll be happier on many levels.

Such a strange vibe here. I walked in on a Friday afternoon after work and five staff members were all huddled at the bar chatting. Nobody said hi, nobody offered me a seat and I waited 12 mins for a drink (I was sitting at the bar). Multiple times during my visit I had to endure 20-somethings gossiping about their colleagues, saying things like “I should just quit.” Then DO IT already. Waitresses are not hard to find. Last but not least, the lights in the men’s room aren’t functional and the tile floor is disintegrating. Definitely will not be back.

Ordered the weekly special - bacon wrapped meatloaf with mash potatoes and grilled veggies. The mash was ice cold. Shocking that not only did they refuse to make fresh mash potatoes, but they couldn't even warm the frozen ones up. I brought this to my server's attention. She was very nice and apologetic. She told me that her manager will be right over. But instead of the manager coming over and asking how they could fix the situation, he simply came over with a new plate l. I would have changed my order after witnessing the fact that the mash (and most likely everything on the plate) was simply reheated if I had been asked but I've been waiting 40 minutes+ at this point and pretty hungry. Potatoes are warm but the grilled veggies were actually steamed (or microwaved), unseasoned, cold and served with a nest of dry argula on top. Gross and weird. Meatloaf was dry. Food was just gross. Odd because I've had good experiences at the one in Smiths Falls.

Great food with alot of options coupled with a fantastic atmosphere equals a great pub to go and grab a few pints and a delicious meal.

Barbie, Kevin and Meg always make me feel at home. Great service and friendly but genuine hospitality is what keeps me coming back. Looking forward to my next pint! Cheers!

Fantastic food from Chef Kelly Raymond. Great atmosphere. Amazing experience all around.
