If 98 means “club”, then these noodles can make you dance! We swung by 98 La La Noodles near ByWard Market for a late afternoon lunch. We went straight for the Lanzhou Noodle, the eponymous hand-pulled noodles popularized in Central Asia.Beef Stew Noodles had many elements of a traditional Lanzhou noodle bowl: white radish, red chili oil, green parsley & yellow hand-pulled noodles. Braised beef gave a deeper broth. Noodles were well cooked through yet bouncy. I enjoyed the aromatic flavours provided by the chili oil along with garlic cloves, chili pepper, and plenty of parsley. The generous bowl even came with a soup ladle!Classic Beef Noodles were made non-spicy at our request. My spouse & kid quickly gobbled up their shared bowl, thereby dousing late lunch hangry appetites. Apparently this broth cooks for 20 hrs to bring out beef & chicken flavours. My wife commented the bowl tasted similar to authentic Lanzhou noodles; I tended to agree based on recent comparisons. The shop interior felt old school despite only being open since 2020. Past the front noodle station, there were many tables reminiscent of similar noodle shops. Service was kind, and my only wish was that noodles were served sooner!
Great noodles which comes in various sizes. Most dish are very flavorful and not as spicy as one may think so definitely explore the more spicy items on the menu as it is basically just more flavors and not more "heat". Speaking of heat, temperature of the noodles were a bit outlandish so hopefully you're not in a hurry to eat them ? Absolutely delicious kabobs! The short ribs melted in the mouth like butter. Nice and Quick service. Overall great experience!
Great noodle bowl! Very homey flavours. I tried the Beef Bowl with thin noodles. Noodles were plenty and the beef was super soft. It hit the spot. I recommend you checking it out if you're looking for comfort food or miss a home cooked meal.
Order beef stew noodle and got the plainest bowl of noodles I have ever seen. No beef, no veggies, just a very expensive bowl of plain noodles.
Paid $18 for beef stew noodle and got the plainest bowl of noodles I have ever seen.
Not very impressed given the very good reviews we read prior to attending this restaurant. The veggie stir fry only had 4-5 small pieces of broccoli, tofu and some onions. That’s it. The beef noodles were very good, however we asked for spicy and they were mild at best. The good news is that the handmade noodles are excellent, very fresh and tasty.Hopefully there are some veggies in the next veggie dish we try!
A+ experience, and the lady who recommended some delish dishes:) those hand rolled noodles OMG game changer!
its my first time and i loved it delicious and very tasty i love the noodlles wirh brisket definitely we go back again
The best Chinese hand-pulled noodle shop in Ottawa. The broth, noodle, meat, and the side order - everything was delicious and deep in taste. All staffs were nice and friendly!
Really happy with our dinner here. I am not a noodle person but I thought I'd try soemthing new. I was a little unsure what to get so I tried the dan dan noodles. They were great. Portion, even though it says small, is very large. We also got the stir fry noodle with shrimp and it was excellent. Kimchi was great.Beef short ribs were ok, seems like a dry rub with a little too much seasoning but they were very tasty. Great service. Food arrived quickly and server was attentive, bringing us more napkins and water without us having to ask. As a person unfamiliar with this type of dish, I appreciated the pictures in the menu ?
