went here with my grandparents. Still a classic, never disappoints.
Havent been here in ages - decided to stop in for lunch. Such friendly and attentive service - much appreciated ! Tried the pea soup based on other reviews- it did not disappoint- it was fresh and hearty.Had the cream cheese scoop platter - veg were super fresh, bagel was great and so was the schmear.Coffee was hot and topped up often too!Will absolutely be returning here for a quick snack or lunch and will be bringing the family too.So refreshing to visit such a warm atmosphere with great food!
This is the place to go for nostalgia (over 100 years old), split pea soup (or so in told), fresh buns, bagels and pretty good tuna salad, Egg salad and potato salad. I've also had latkes here before and they were yummy. Another big seller among friends is the Greek salad in case that's what you're looking for. This is a kosher style place for breakfast, bunch, lunch or dinner, so no bacon.
An excellent kosher place. Food is lovely. Service is good.It has been pointed out that it isn't technically kosher...perhaps "kosher style" would have been more correct.Never the less, the food and service was really good. I will go back.I love exploring new cultural experiences....but lox, borscht, and potatoe latkes aren't new me....these are part of my family experience.
Come on. What’s not to love about this Toronto Jewish institution. The famous pea soup lives up to its reputation alone. Never leave without a full tub of the good stuff.The blintzes are good, latkes good. I like the Mac and cheese but I like to share. Kasha bowties are a nice treat too.Long live UB!
Had lunch today! Amazing service, food delicious and comes to table so quickly! I met Nathan who said hello when coming out of washroom. ( it may be downstairs but always perfectly clean). I told him we regularly come when in town. He offered me a free coffee for the ride back to Hockley! Very kind! Thanks for preserving UB’s just as it is for so many years! Love it!
I ordered the amazing Greek salad, poppy seed bagels n pea soup. It was terrific n so was my server @ the bakery Davina. She's very friendly n professional.

Overall really good for a casual, no-fuss kind of place. We ordered the bagel lox and it was delicious! Pea soup is also really nice but a bit too sweet. Cookies were straight up stale. Stick to the salads, bagels and soups!I should also add that the staff (cashier especially!) is awesome and helpful!
Go here! After two weeks on the road Google Maps lead us here as we made our way to the highway. Feel v lucky about that. What little gem of a place. So nice to have property hearty, healthy homemade food. The PEA SOUP was so good that we ordered another one. The staff were great and the owner came over for a light chat, lovely lady,.. and we left with a complimentary cookie for my kid.
