First & last time trying this place. Came here based on the amazing reviews & was extremely disappointed. Normally, I don’t write negative reviews but the rating is too high on this restaurant & I don’t want others to be misled like me. Ordered 4 dishes & 2 of them were bad. I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants that serve similar dishes as Sozo & they are much better. Starting from the worst to good.Chasu Pork Belly Ramen - Worst ramen I ever had in my life. Soup was rancid smelling & tasted nothing like Shoyu soup flavor from other ramen places like Kinton, Konjiki. Pork belly was also flavourless. For the price, I was expecting similar quality & it did not meet expectations. I think the soup went bad & it was served to me. I felt sick immediately after eating it. Do not order the Shoyu ramen! 0/5Chicken Curry - Not enough flavor. Very little chicken.Mostly bland curry sauce with rice 1/5Salmon Teriyaki Don Buri - Ok. Tasted as one would expect from a Japanese restaurant 4/5Deluxe sushi platter - Good presentation. Good flavor. Fresh fish. 4/5Service is good here, but it cannot make up for the bad food & price point. I will not be returning. Staff, please kindly smell & try the ramen soup before serving it. I am 100% certain the soup had already went bad when it was served to me.
Service was quick and the food was good. A hidden gem in the Consumers Road area.(Update 08May2022)Went there for my mother's day dinner with my family. Service was excellent as usual. Had ordered the phoenix roll and it was not only pretty to look at but also flavorful.
food was OK. Not the best I’ve ever had. Not the worst I’ve ever had. Staff was nice enough. Service was really slow. After we were done eating, I was preparing to leave cash on the table for a tip, the manager came over with his dirty chef jacket on and asked me why I didn’t leave a tip. I had the money in my hand, but I was so disgusted with the way he walked straight up to us and asked why we didn’t leave a tip…I walked out. Won’t go back.
food was tasty, clearly fresh, and the waitress was very nice
Went here since it had great rating around my area. Service was great & friendly. The fish and seafood was fresh but just the sushi rice kinda dry and not enough flavour. They need to use a better grade of sushi rice and season properly.Price of the food is not bad but you must try the foie gras sushi.But will come back here again to try the other stuff on their menu.
Had a wonderful dine in experience at SOZO this evening. Staff were amazing, and attentive while taking care of all our needs and suggestions. Food not only looked amazing but was very fresh and delicious. Our party felt safe with the cleanliness of this restaurant and I highly recommend the K10 - Spider Roll on their menu.
Just amazing. Placed an order on Valentine's and asked the manager/head chef to 'valentinify' the order and he went above and beyond! The quality of the food is unparalleled and the customer service is just amazing! Will definitely recommend this to everyone!
Sushi is not fresh, maybe pandemic related. It is also bland and because of those two reasons not worth the price. Rude Management needs an overhaul. Save your money and save yourself a headache. If you want sushi look elsewhere like Gonoe sushi on don mills. Extra star is for the friendly FOH staff.
Our second time here and it was just as amazing as the first. We got the chicken ramen (photo) and duck ramen with the phoenix roll (photo). Everything was amazing, you can't go wrong with this place!
First time to try this place and didn’t disappoint ?? The chicken ramen was good, tasty and generous serving. Our server, Amy was helpful to suggest items on the menu. Parking can be tricky, no side street parking but 2 hrs free indoor parking for customers, get your ticket validated before leaving.
