Pretty under-rated place! Unfortunately their signature red champong was unavailable because they were not able to source the ingredients from Korea. We ended up ordering their white based soup, the jajangmyeon, and the mapo tofu. The jajangmyeon was excellent, the wife loved it and wished she got that over the white broth soup, which I thought was excellent as well! Everyone agreed that the star of the show was the mapo tofu! The way it was prepared was very Korean in flavouring and made it very distinct from the usual more traditional Chinese style mapo tofus. I do highly recommend this place since they have a small but excellent and very focused menu! We'll definitely be coming back!
Two visits to Poong Moon so far and I have yet to be disappointed by anything they have on the menu.My personal favourite is the Beef Champong; a hint of spicyness, the aroma of wok fried veggies, tons of toppings and a flavourful soup base make for a really good bowl of noodles. The Tang Su Yuk is also deep fried perfectly and the is coated in a very gentle sweet and sour sauce. The thinly slice onion pairs very well here.Definitely give them a try :)
Found this place and have been here twice within 2 weeks. MY Favorite Korean restaurant in Yonge finch. Signature Korean Chinese style dishes, very reasonable price and large portions.
Food 10/10Service 10/10Atmosphere 8.5/10Very tasty Korean style Chinese foods..If is not typical Korean Chinese restaurant. Very friendly staff.White beef Jjampon was delicious,I ordered with rice. It is go well with rice as well. PSpicy (red ) beef jjampong was not too spicy and tasty, mauth full of wok hei flavour in the veggiesI like Chinese style cucumber here..very refreshing and the fragrant sesame oil and fresh cucumber were very delicious.Squad rings with French fries is good for drink as wellI finished all the foods here.I highly recommend here, I want it to go again next day, but Tuesday was closed.
This place was a delightful surprise for me.I've ordered the Sweet and Sour pork.Taste was nothing like the traditional that I've tasted in any other Korsan restaurants. And yet it was satisfying to my taste. Also the staff was nice and friendly.I'm bringing my friends next time to this place.
Probably the best Korean Jjam-pong (spicy noodle soup) in Toronto. Fried Squid also good. Good visual presentation. Recommended. Two big thumbs up. Keep it up. Better than Chinatown in Incheon Korea.
I ordered a Cream Champong for my dinner. When it is served on the table, its flavour is appealing to your nose. Its appearance is also attractive, demonstrating the chef's generosity in giving bacon, seafood, etc. Apart from several mussels, you can find an intact medium size octopus in the bowl. The noodle is chewy. The quantity is also abundant. The soup base is creamy and not salty. I finish all soup at the end.Remember to give a call and reserve a table, failing which you may need to wait for 30 minutes!
Editing as I finally went back to try their jajangmyeon (the black bean noodle, their signature dish). Also tried their fried chicken. All in all, pretty impressive.------Me and my friends initially came for jajangmyeon but it unfortunately was sold out.So we opted in to seafood spicy soup with rice noodle and it was amazing. The sweet and sour pork was pretty good too but it wasn't as crispy as I hoped for. I think their breading either made entirely or partially out of rice flour. The pork inside is very tender though.Would definitely return to try jajangmyeon near future.
The cream seafood champong was so good that we wanted to eat it again the next day! Black been noodles was good too. Too bad they were out of beef so we tried the spicy seafood noodles instead. Pretty good too but the cream champong was surely the winner. We finished the whole bowl of soup! So creamy and flavourful! Yum!Not so busy around 4pm Sunday afternoon. Not sure about lunch or dinner time.
