No stars are deserved. The food was absolutely disgusting. A disgrace to Jamaican food! Rice and peas was stale. Chicken was like cardboard, coleslaw was hard.. Took a couple bites and threw the rest in the garbage. Immediately started feeling sick right after. Threw up everything I ate this morning. I don’t normally leave reviews but I have food poisoning from this establishment.
Friendly service and delicious food. Their menu is not flexible, so they are unlikely to accommodate special orders that are not explicitly listed on the menu. Excellent jerk pork and chicken. Oxtail gravy is amazing. Curried beef and rotis are also great.
Overall, not a bad place. I would just suggest to make the meat a bit more tender and more seasoned/marinated as I find that the flavour in the jerk meats are a bit bland at times. Still, everything else is good. Worth a try if you're ever around!
Not my first time here but I figured I would give them another chance. Got the Jerk chicken dinner and the chicken was like burnt cardboard. I don't think I will be buying from here again. As a Jamaican and someone who cooks this was very disappointing. Jerk chicken is one of the easiest thing to cook but this didn't cut it for me. As you can see most of the chicken went to the garbage.
Contrary to many peoples beliefs and experiences I've had A+ experiences here since 2007. The staff are always accommodating and the food is delicious. I always seem to get the Jerk Pork and their scotch bonnet sauce is to die for. It has a complete balance of heat meets sweet meets pop meets flavour. I started out eating the Jerk Chicken which in one summer I gained 30lbs which can only mean I didn't get sick of eating the same lunch and snack daily. The following summer when I got introduced to the pork it was over and has been a staple dish that I can't go without at least once a month. I've had the stew chicken and the curry chicken while my friends enjoy the curry goat nobody I've gone with has been disappointed. Lastly the oxtail is delicious as well as the festival I don't get the patties there as I am a fan of Allens inside. Hope you enjoy the review and give it a go. Will be seeing you soon Mr. Jerk
I would probably say I’ve become abit of a regular to this place. I come for the jerk pork sandwich, or the dinner, (one for when I’m not as hungry, and the other for when I’m feeling that extra need of comfort)This place has been around awhile, and I can say that I was skeptical at first when I first came to the city about 10 years ago, so it was usually just my friends having it.But once I finally gave the sandwich a try (they serve on a coco bun with the gravy and coleslaw) I found myself a lil hooked. Sure, it’s not always perfect, sometimes the bun is a lil off, but I find that like any restaurant, the times of the best quality comes with the time of day it’s served.(I came in once 30mins to close, legit was not expecting that it was gunna be the best when it’s the last scraps of the day)However, days like today where the weather is cool, the snow is starting up again, this jerk pork dinner hit the spot. The flavour was rich, the coleslaw a lovely addition, and I cannot forget to add the amazing as always service from the main lady who been working there since time. <3
Bought oxtail and jerk chicken today and it was just garbage. I don't think this place is carribean owned or the meals are cooked by carribeans. The oxtail and jerk have no spicy at all and don't taste like what they are supposed to taste like , the rice and peas taste very strange... waste of my money and time!
Leave it to these small places to get jerk completely right. A community staple and a haunt for cheap jerk sandwiches for Vanier students. While I prefer their jerk pork, the chicken is good too, i just find their pork tender, not overcooked and just the right amount of spice. The slaw is sweet but more chopped up compared to other jerk places. An awesome "jerk store" for you Seinfeld fans!
Jerk chicken sandwich is amazing. My friend from work treated me here. The lady is very nice . Will be back for sure when working in the area.
The best Jamaican food I've ever tried!! The oxtail is the bestttttt and a definite must try. The owner is sooo friendly and helpful. He gave us so many great recommendations and everything we tried tasted absolutely amazing! If ever you're in town you MUSTTT pass by here to give this spot a try. Definitely worth it!!
