The Hainan Chicken Rice was delicious and the owner was really nice.
I’d say the food here is more Cantonese style than Taiwanese style. Best to order 20-25 min before pickup during dinner time. They said I could pick up in 15 min but ended up letting me wait for another 10 min.The Hainanese chicken is smooth and tender, however portion is small with only 4 pieces of chicken on a bed of rice (all other photos I saw on Google have 6-7 pieces, I don’t know why they gave me so little…). The rice tasted dry for my liking. The New Orleans style chicken chop is very tasty and tender with generous portion of meat. It also comes with a fried egg, broccoli and some corn. I would definitely order this one again.
Strolling down Yonge Street, we came across Baifang Taiwanese Bento 百芳臺式便當, a NEW mini takeout shop in Northtown Way Friendly lady owner greeted us and we found out this shop has been opened for half a year already! It is a popular amongst the students living in the area, and most of them enjoy ordering the housemade braised soups, all made with quality ingredients. The owner even showed us the fish maw she uses ^^Since we had a late lunch, we ordered the Boneless Hainaese Chicken Rice 海南雞飯 ($13.95) to share. It comes with a can of pop, a side of sweet soy sauce and ginger green onion sauce. You can also get 20% off any of their housemade braised soups when you purchase a meal. There are so many snacks and bentos the menu, I'll defintiely come back again to try more items!
Great chicken rice. Kind owners, good prices.
Got their Taiwanese sausage bento! Pretty solid variety with veggies, sides, and a soy egg (Taiwanese classic!) Had it for lunch and was delicious and satisfying!Would like to try the Hainanese chicken rice next time!
Ordered the popcorn chicken rice, and not impressed. Rice is not sauced, the veggie is steamed, and egg is just hard boil, not even Taiwanese marinated. So would not return
Their food is on the pricier end for Bentos, but the higher food quality is definitely worth the price. Be sure to try their herbal soups! Only small critique I have is the wait can be pretty long for a Bento place (15 to 20 minutes) but that is because they make everything fresh.
Always love having more Taiwanese food in the neighbourhood! The Hainanese chicken was really juicy and the rice it came with is delicious.
I got the hainanese chicken rice (comes with a pop) while my boyfriend got their yin yang chicken rice. The hainanese chicken was probably one of the best that I've had in Toronto. Rice was flavourful and not too wet (like other places I've tried). The chicken was very soft and juicy. I didn't finish the whole meal. I saved half of it and ate it the next day after microwaving it and the chicken still tastes great. My boyfriend also said that his rice is pretty good and portion size was decent. Too be honest, I thought this would just be a place that I try once and not go back to since I am moving away from this area but this chicken rice would definitely be worth going back to :D
Good service, terrible food. Ordered the Hainanese Chicken Box and the sausage side dish. The chicken is normal Canadian Chicken poorly cooked - no flavour. The rice was standard brown rice (couldn’t even taste the chicken skin bits) - no flavour. Overall dish lack depth and something you could make yourself at home for a fraction of the price. The sausage side dish used normal lap cheong/Chinese sausage you could get at the supermarket. Save your money and go to the Sushi Bong 2 storefronts to the left.
