Cash only, so be prepared! My partner brought me here after telling me so many stories of him coming here throughout his high school years. We got a stuffed sandwich and a jerk chicken sandwich. The stuffed was a Jamaican patty and jerk chicken in a sandwich. My partner loved and preferred the stuffed but I liked the classic jerk chicken one. It was super yummy and filling and the prices were affordable and everything came out so quickly— i can see why this place is so popular! I definitely recommend coming by whenever you’re near the area. I would love to come by and try some of their different dishes!
Jerk chicken flavour and spices took us back to Jamaica! Rice and coleslaw were perfect too. It’s a really understated place, that seems to be under the radar but those in the know seem to know! Definitely worth a trip!
Nice spot for some Jamaican style food in that area. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich is awesome, their Patty’s are ok but I’ve had much better and their boneless Jerk Chicken Dinner is on point ???
Similar to other Jamaican spots in Toronto, it’s a more take-out/pick-up type of restaurant, so just keep that in mind when going to get a bite. What’s nice about Allwyn’s is that the food was super hot and fresh, as we even waited some extra minutes for the Oxtail. Additionally, the two gentle men working that day were super kind and had great customer service.I ordered their Jerk Chicken Sandwich, Large Oxtail Plate, 1/2 Jerk Pork and Side Oxtail. YO, the Jerk Chicken Sandwich????? BUSSSSSSSIN. That joint was too nice, the chicken was tender and juicy, the jerk spice was delicious, there was the perfect amount of coleslaw and the bread just came in harmony. I really wish I ordered a second one because it was that good. The Oxtail Plate was excellent! The meat was falling off the bone, the gravy was AMAZING, and you could really taste the browning. The rice and peas tasted as it should lol, and their coleslaw is so simple but effective. One thing I will say is that on the menu, they depicted the plate coming with some plantain on the side, and it did not so that sucked. The side Oxtail was actually a great portion for the price, like if I lived in the GTA, I’d be consistently ordering that and making the sides myself at home to last a few nights for dinner. Seriously some of the best Oxtail I’ve ever had. As for the pork, this was actually my first time trying Jerk Pork, and it really good as well.Man, until I find a successor, Allwyn’s Bakery can hold its crown as best Jamaican restaurant I’ve ever been to. I seriously look forward to the day that we meet again. ?
Been going here for years since they were at the old location before they moved. Best jerk chicken and jerk pork sandwiches in town. they have a special pepper sauce you can ask for as well if you like the spice. the slaw on the sandwich is so good. really nice staff, can't say I've ever had a bad experience here. Patty's are worth a try as well, if you're there.
best jerk chicken in the city hands down food is made with love and if it's your 1st time? grab a jerk chicken sandwich or a patty with coco bread and you'll never stop going back
Standards were already low for service based on history going into this - but I thought I’d give it a go.After being rushed off the phone when placing my takeout order where I explicitly requested no plantains on my dish due to an allergy - they were put on anyways making the order inedible. The only options were wait for 30 mins or leave. If this place listened with a fraction of the energy they allocate to giving customers attitude I might have been eating there and actually reviewing the food - instead I’m just complaining about garbage service…
In Toronto to visit family, and went to Allwyn's location near Lawrence based on rave reviews. The beef patties were so-so, with an aftertaste that suggested the patties were stale -- I was actually concerned about the possibility of food poisoning (but I only felt slightly nauseous). Topped off by the rude customer service of a middle aged Chinese woman, it never again for us. (My wife is from the Caribbean),Brian
I already visited a couple of times from Etobicoke as my friend brought me here to try the jerk chicken sandwich, and the way the food tastes so good here for the price you’re paying really makes you want to come back so often!! The very kind man who took my order gave me two free patties for me showing support to the restaurant, I’m definitely coming back!
Tiny little shop in the corner of the plaza, but the food is great and is served with care. It can get quite busy, so expect a lineup, but it's worth the wait. Workers take great care in properly preparing and serving meals. I had the most tender and flavourful jerk chicken meal I've ever experienced. The beef patties aren't my favourite, but they are definately still tasty and got very good reviews. If you like jerk chicken, you definitely have to give them a try!
