I love this location the owners are fantastic and the food makes me miss home.
Was expecting a dip in quality from the Scarborough location, but was pleasantly surprised. In fact the pleasant service was the best surprise.Jerk pork is delicious!
Very good jerk chicken for a reasonable price. Tried all the places for jerk in Newmarket, this one is the best!!!
Visited on April 22 and was totally impressed. RYAN was genuinely friendly and surprisingly efficient: I got my order within minutes of placing it (rare for a West Indian Restaurant). The food was out front, ready to serve. The curried goat was so tasty and well-cooked. The rice and peas had me asking the manager who prepared it - and it was Ryan! Compared to similar restaurants in Toronto the price was a bit "dear", but the portion was generous and I was satisfied it was money well-spent. Kudos, Bonnie and team! Looking forward to ordering from you in the future.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant. Highly recommend! Best oxtail in town!!!
Food is not good!!!! The only thing that was worth eating was their prepackaged Dhal Puri Roti Skin, just because you have the right roti skin doesnt make you authentic! If you have eaten an authentic Trinidadian Roti you would know this was NOT good! we ordered curry chicken roti and at first thought it was a great size...but was fooled. Maybe had four small peices of chicken thigh and loads of potatoes which were mushy to the point of almost a watery paste. No taste definitely not Trinidad worthy as they promote. It was also served with frozen bagged carrots peas and corn, which were not warmed all the way through and had a clump of all purpose seasoning powder on it. Never going back. just reminds me how much i miss the true west indian establishments in scarborough....worth the drive!!
Most likely not returning food is just not up to par. Jerk chicken soggy and the oxtail gravy should be from cooked oxtail seems like gravy from a can
After trying all the Caribbean Restaurants in Newmarket, I realized this is the best. For 1 thing its strictly Jamaican style cooking with a few island items such as roti and doubles. The staff takes their time preparing each item to perfection with their knowledge of Jamaican cuisine. I also like the fact I can get jamaican food in a roti as a change. I never had an issue with this place. I especially love how the fish is made to order, you just call ahead and they prepare it for you. I'm glad I dont have to travel far for food like this being a Jamaican- myself speaks volumes. Definitely a must try, especially for catering. It's the only place I can get vegetarian doubles as well. Always say stick with what you know and they have.
