Check out my food blog Instagram for more reviews: @mimi.munches ?I find myself in the Nepean area of Ottawa often when searching for value eats, or for the huge variety of bubble tea available in this area, and have always wanted to try Merivale Seafood Grill!I've purchased their fresh seafood products before (sushi-grade salmon/tuna, as well as their oysters), and found them very fresh and fairly priced. So I finally dropped by to dine-in on their outdoor patio on a gorgeous day!.I actually went on two different occasions recently, and will share all the dishes I tried!.Appetizer - Calamari ($17): I kept seeing the calamari in their Google reviews, and had to get it. I was not disappointed - it was a good amount, tender, and the batter was light and not thick..Soups - Tony's Bouillabaisse ($22): This was so good, I had it TWICE on two separate days. The broth is rich but light and tomato-based, with a generous amount of seafood (fish, mussels, shrimp). The portion was a good size, and was so comforting..Mains - Pescatore ($35) Linguine, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, rosé sauce: This REALLY hit the spot for seafood pasta. The sauce was flavourful, and it had a good amount of seafood. I'd say portions here are good value overall, and the seafood is SUPER fresh..Mains - Lobster Poutine (~$18?) This was one of the recent Blackboard specials, and if you know me, you know I LOVE poutine, so I HAD to try this, as I love lobster as well. It was a really interesting take on a poutine, with a lighter sauce, well-cooked fries, and chunks of lobster. So good, I finished it all in one go on my own!Pro tip: make sure to check their Blackboard specials on the inside of the restaurant, as they'll often have unique dishes not on their regular menu! The dipping sauce had a nice kick as well..I recommend dining on their outdoor patio if it's a nice day, as it is covered, and cooler than the interiors..Next time, I want to try their crab cakes, Paella, and grilled fish!
One of the best seafood place in ottawa. The sushi was also great and cheap. The place was filled when we were there in the evening.. The staffs were also nice. They have a fish market within the restaurant were we can buy fresh uncooked fish aswell.
Omg this place is awesome! Hidden gem in Ottawa!Paella and fish soup (forgot the name) were delicious!I wish there was something like a 7 course sampling menu from them, I would pay good money to be able to try more dishes!
I went to the Seafood Grill because of the reviews. They were not wrong. After a short wait we got our table in this cozy restaurant. I ordered the Pescatore Pasta, which had an amazing rose sause loaded with seafood. The sause was so great that I ate it with a spoon after the pasta was done. It was the best rose I have ever had. My husband had the cod fish and chips which is the best he's had in the region. The prices are reasonable and if there is a wait, it's worth it. I'll be back.
We went there on a business Friday night. No reservation taken. You just have to stand in a line to wait. We waited for 20 min to finally stand in the dining area. Saw 2 or 3 empty tables, but waiters are quite busy. Waited for another 5 minutes to finally get seated. Once we are seated, we quickly ordered and our food came fairly fast. Oysters and calamari are okay. Pescatore is my favourite, portion is generous, it has 3 big scallops and 4 shrimps and lots of mussels.
The best seafood restaurant I have ever been to. Absolutely everything from the menu is delicious, I had no complaints. The fish and chips were perfect, it wasn't crazy battered so you can actually see and taste the fish. Highly recommend getting the sweet potato fries, they are the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was delicious, so was the calamari and the crab cakes with a sweet mango chutney like dip. Highly, highly recommend. You also know everything is fresh here since you can buy the seafood right next door!
Haven’t had a single dish here that wasn’t delicious! We started with the clam chowder and then went to town with the rest of the menu. The haddock fish and chips were wonderful and so light. The grilled salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The calamari was delicious and the best I’ve had in a while. Even the mussels in tomato broth were great. I just wish they served it with bread to dunk in the broth. My absolute favourite was the fish tacos. Thank you for your lovely, fresh seafood!
Excellent seafood here, especially Oysters , fresh and plump! Oysters are not on the menu, don’t forget to ask the waitress what’s new today for off-menu dishes from the market next door. They’re owned by the same owner.Reasonable price. We really like it here!
We had a family dinner for 13 people catered by Merivale Fish Market. Our family members are still talking about how amazing the food was. It was absolutely delicious. We have loved this restaurant for years and would absolutely recommend it for a dinner out, the greatest takeout, or catering for any event!!
It was our first time here for takeout, the halibut and cod fish n chips were fantastic and the order was ready on time. It is pricey but that is to be expected with premium fish chips. Returning soon!
