I’ve been an Amma’s Biryani customer since the grand opening. Throughout the one year or so opening mark for them, I’ve tried all their Biryani’s and managed to say that I cannot choose a favourite. It all depends on my mood for the day (including their vegetarian option). I’ve also brought various family members, and friends to Amma’s Biryani and we’ve all managed to feel like Amma made this Biryani just for us. With each savoury bite we had, we can truly feel the love that came into making this food. We may not be back home enjoying this food, but they managed to remind us of it. Thank you all for the time spent making this delicious food. Looking forward to my next Biryani plate.
Delicious biryani. Especially like the goat. Great servings, meaty, full of flavor! The chicken biryani is also great. Located at the back of Silk Roads Grocery on Merivale Road in Ottawa beside Farm Boy. Good prices.
The word Amma refers to Mother and the Chef told me that Biriyani is his Mother's recipe. Ordered Vegetarian Biriyani (comes with Raitha) and their Salad. Vegetarian Biriyani tasted very good and had a good flavor and aroma. The Raita was also very good. Their salad was very spicy and flavorful. I would highly recommend this place for one of the best biriyani s in Ottawa. Ask for Double Masala or ask them to make it spicy if you want it too spicy as by default the biriyani wasn't so spicy but delicious.
One of the best Indian Chicken Biryani I had in Ottawa, mainly because it doesn't have overpowering spices. It has the right amounts of everything and the rice is of great quality.\\n\\nI've ordered two times from this place, the food was piping hot and tasty. Once I got less masala with my order, but the next time I requested them to put more and they did.\\n\\nTruly impressed.
Tried their briyani's multiple times outstanding as always. Decided to try chicken curry today and it was one of the best you can get in Ottawa. Reminded of hometown for a while lol..Flavours and spices were perfectly balanced. Great job guys. Looking forward to try Wing Karahi next time. ?Update: tried Wing Karahi and Chicken curry again. Both were full of oil like literally just oil and only little bit of gravy and the bread I got was just crispy crumbles can't even call them a bread.
I saw great google reviews of Amma's Biryani and thought I would try it. I was a little unsure where the restaurant was exactly, but I did figure it out. It is tucked away in the back of the Silk Roads Foods Grocer store.I have to say this little adventure was worth it. To me, Amma's biryani makes the best tasting Binyani rice in Ottawa. The food is fresh, with lots of spices that make for a great meal. The raita with mint added great flavor too. They also sell non biryani food like chicken curry, which was good.The food prices are reasonable and they sell festive family platters, even though it is not posted on the wall menu. Amma's offers online food delivery services, which can be a great option.The Silk Roads Foods Grocer store that hosts Amma's Biryani restaurant is an interesting store that deserves to be a place to shop at as well. I ordered veg biryani and chicken biryani. The veg biryani had a hair in it which made me lose my appetite while enjoying a tasty food. The hair in the food messed up the whole experience. Very bad.
Good Biriyani & love their chicken curry as well. It’s take out order & they have one table for people if they want to eat there. This place is hidden inside a grocery shopping place. Took me a while but best find. Price is very reasonable.
I was pleasantly surprised about this little hole in the wall. The taste was excellent. My daughter and I shared a box of goat biryani. My daughter said she wasn't hungry and only have one spoonful...she ended up eating one quarter of the box. It was nicely spicy. I would definitely go back. The raita was very good too. Only sad part was not many items on the menu. But I look forward to trying them...yummy!!!!
Delicious biryanis!We ordered chicken and moutan biryanis and they were both delicious and huge in portions.I would dine again!
