You likely know why it has been about 3 years since our family last dined here and we chose to come mostly out of nostalgia. We have enjoyed many pleasant experiences here and at other Keg locations across Western Canada for many decades, but have noticed a gradual decline in product and service quality over the years, mostly due to lack of attention to details. Details matter to customers. The apparent decline appears to continue under The Keg's current Swiss Chalet ownership. As an example, we ordered 3 Tuna Tatar appetizers along with other starters. Soon Chef appeared our table, introduced himself, and proceeded to apologize for the lack of the advertised Won Ton Chip accompaniments because someone forgot to remove them from the freezer and would the substitution of Tortilla Chips be satisfactory? We agreed. How impressive it is for probably the busiest person in the restaurant to come to our table to seek forgiveness. Most restaurants these days would let their server take the extra stress. There didn't appear to be any front-of-the-house management that night leaving it to Chef to cover for any menu lapses which, of course is always the way it should be in this diner's opinion. Good for Chef, - not so good for the use of his ingredient pull-sheet checklist that day. Details. However, and as a quality indicator, the adjusted Tuna Tartar appetizers were still a disappointment, the substituted Totilia Chips notwithstanding. The ample portions were attractively plated in a carefully assembled column with bite-sized dice of tender tuna atop solid chunks of unripened Avocado. If there was any seasoning added it was was economically applied. The result, culinary boredom even after some squeezes of lemon juice from wedges rescued from the Caesar Salads. They weren't enough. The Keg has done away with table top salt and pepper preventing basic customer flavour enhancements. In the days of prior ownership if a menu item wasn't acceptable, it would be withdrawn from service in order to protect the restaurant's reputation. But wait. Surprisingly Chef soon returned to advise us we received the last 3 Tuna portions to be served that night and were the substituted chips alright? I would rather he ask if we enjoyed the items. Maybe he did. The rest of the meal continued on course with competently cooked steaks done precisely to order, and as always those just right sides. The restaurant was not particularly busy that night, but maybe our server had too nany tables to attend to in order to clear the clutter of used glasses and plates as the meal progressed and before the mains were served. He had several opportunities but left empty-handed each time. I thought my hint of lining the outside edge of our corner table with as many of the unneeded items as I could might have been a sufficient hint. I guess not. Guests should not have to create table top space for next course and of course the runner having both hands fully occupied with the mains can't assist in the task. Is there anyone at The Keg who notices these practices?
One of the best steak I ever had. Service was prompt. And the food was delicious and cooked as requested. Everyone should try the steak and the lobster if they have the specials going on. Would definitely recommend trying out this place atleast once. Will not disappoint.
Had a lovely date night dinner here. Haven’t been to The Keg in over 3 years and we were so excited to return. Server was lovely! Cocktails were good as was the wine! Menu has excellent choices as always. We ordered a bone in ribeyes, garlic mashed with a lobster tail. Delicious! Very pleased as always.
A quiet 53rd wedding anniversary and the bride's 75th birthday... made incredible by 3 generation surprise visit, gourmet food and our delightful server. Recommend for any special event... memorable!
Ive been here many times with big groups and small- I've always had attentive and friendly service! Every meal has been great.
great steak (they know how to make them perfect). great service.
I come to the Keg almost every week and since I was working in the area I decided to try the Mississauga location on Argentia Road. From the moment I walked in here, it was brutal. First off, you come in and there are at least 10 people at the front just staring at you. They do not welcome you properly not to mention how weird that is for a guest to come in and so many people are there just standing. They direct us to our booth and it’s pitch black you can’t even see the tables. Our bread was stale and hard. The steaks had no flavour, the rice was bland and even when it came to dessert they had no proper presentation and the brownies were cold. The service was terrible. In all my years of coming to the Keg, the location was such a disappointment. When you come to the Keg after a long week you expect to have a great experience, GOOD FOOD and proper service. That’s all I wanted. I will be letting my colleagues know that they should avoid this location at all costs.

Came here with my cousin today for the first time, and we had such a great time. We go out for food quite often, and we’ve had some bad food and service at other restaurants. The food was fantastic, to start with we ordered the shrimp cocktail and calamari, but our amazing server Caroline brought us the house bread with the butter that also has cheese…. Let me tell you, that bread is so fluffy and soft, and the butter definitely wasn’t needed but made the bread that much butter. I had my steak medium and it was absolutely delectable and done right. Caroline was amazing and asked the bar to make accommodations, which they gladly did! The cocktails were perfectly balanced, and I would definitely recommend their mojitos, we also had the crème brûlée which was just a creamy delight - I highly encourage trying that as well. From the server, to the bartenders, as well as the kitchen, this team worked together in such a synchronized way that our entire evening out was above and beyond our standards. Can’t wait to come back.
Caroline! She. Made. Our. Experience. Phenomenal! My cousin and I initially just came because I’m a steak head and what better way to fuel a craving then at a great steakhouse. Not only did she go above and beyond the call of duty, she did it with a smile on her face, friendly attitude and everything in between. She is the reason this location will be our steak main location!! The bar staff, making accommodations and the management acknowledging our compliments, all done with grace. This location caters to you and makes the experience wonderful but for my cousin and I, it’s Caroline every time! Thank you so much.
