Good halal food. Child friendly

Had a craving for halal beef ribs, and Mad Ox definitely hit the spot. The food came out surprisingly quick, and the ribs were absolutely delicious, and the best I have had.I did find the coleslaw to be way too watery, and the seating area can get a little cramped. We did come in on a cold night, and unfortunately every time the door opened, a strong wave of cold air would fill the place up. The cord bread also left a lot to be desired, and not worth the price for me personally. However, I will keep this at 5 stars because the ribs were that good, and i plan on coming back for more!

Delicious! Well worth the cost!

From mouth-wateringly succulent Steak, Smoked Chicken and Brisket to equally delicious sides featuring Coleslaw and Smoked Mac & cheese and Smoked Beans. Mad Ox serves it all and then some!We had the Backyard Platter which seems to be quite the pick as you may notice in other reviews. You have the option of picking 3 meats and 3 side dishes. Our favorites for Proteins included the Brazilian Tri Tip Steak, Angus Brisket and Beef-Back Ribs. Our sides included Smoked Mac & Cheese which was delicious as expected, not too greasy, not too Cheesy just the right amount. aAs for our second choice, we went with Waffle Fries of course as who wouldn't want a little bit more crunchy carbs to complement these succulent-flavor-filled Meat options? For our 3rd pick we decided upon Smoked Pit Beans that are slow-cooked in their unique and delicious Dr Pepper and Chipotle sauce. I have not tried Beans that delicious anywhere else!As for the venue, a very rustic feel with natural tones, Edison Bulbs maintaining warm and natural lighting, walls complimented with stone and brick. It seems to be well planned and thought out. The restaurant felt very cozy and clean, well-organized and a welcoming seating capacity to support small families or couples to parties of 10 or more from what I noticed. It was non-stop busy while we were there on New Year's Eve and rightfully so!Did I mention it was mouth-watering? We had left overs and this was particularly exciting for me as I complimented my morning breakfast with some juicy Brisket! Very satisfied and cannot wait for our next visit. We eagerly look forward to returning again very soon!My apologies, I understand that my photo doesn't do this restaurant the justice it deserves. I would've taken better photos, but when the food arrived which was also quite fast, it was such a tease that we just jumped right in! I will take better photos upon our next visit.

Taste was great, the Brisket, Brazilian tri-tip, and Chicken were top notch, the ribs were disappointing, but it could be an anomaly, I'll definitely be coming back.Haris was very cordial and explained the menu and proposed their top hits. The sides were also great, beans, waffle fries, Mac'n'cheese and Cole slaw were all very nice and meshed with the meats write quite nicely.

Beef brisket is how I decide to base my thoughts of a BBQ restaurant. Had 1/2 lb lean and 1/2 medium fatty. Unfortunately, both parts were dry. My experience with brisket is grease soaked everything, not Mad Ox. Loved the waffle fries and beans. The potato salad and coleslaw really needed salt. Staff interaction was fine, inside of the restaurant looked really fancy and is reflected in the price you pay.

Very good platter and delicious. You get a lot for the price. The meats definitely have quality and I love that there's quite an option for the sauces. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth, the ribs were a little hard to eat given their size, the Brazilian tri-tip was good, the cornbread and waffle fries were great. The place looks great but the service could've been better.

Deeply satisfying ribs with great sauce!Enjoyed it with mac n cheese and fries as sides ?Brisket had some dry pieces which made it chewy, could’ve been more juicy and tender

Halal smoked BBQ, job well done.3 stars because as someone who smokes alot of brisket, I have higher expectations. A great brisket is one where the lean part is cooked just right and enjoyable.Pros+Tasty juicy tender brisket (med smoke flavour)+Brisket has great tasting bark with a little kick to it+Flavourful juicy and crunchy Nashville Sando+Friendly service from reception to servers (THANK YOU GALE)+Gorgeous atmosphere and settingNeutral-ok corn bread, potato salad, friesCons-had bit of stomach ache and felt sick after probly too oily-doesnt look smoked 16 hours (pics no smoke ring)-was hoping to have a bit more brisket like 3 slices instead of 2-brisket not as smoked and slightly overcooked-Little overpriced on the brisket dish-Wait time a little longer than hoped for-nashville Sando batter is oversaturated with oilDetails2 things that really bothered here:1. BARE minimum uneven smoke ring which has me question how long this was really smoked or their smoking method used. Those familiar with smoking will know that smoking for a long time as 16h will develop a thick prominent red smoke ring in the meat.2. Brisket and Nashville was really oily. Something tells me they soak their brisket in oil or butter to keep it juicy and moist and the Nashville was just a sponge full of oil.I'm a passionate brisket smoker, owning my own offset smoker and having done plenty of smoked brisket from 8-12 hours. I measure temps with my meater to avoid overcooking but I guess mass producing brisket can be tougher. The bark on the brisket is thick but mushy, with a little spicy kick to it which was enjoyable.Part of the brisket was dry chewy, stringy and left this undesirable chewy tooth sticking texture in the back of your mouth indicating it was overcooked. Brisket that is done right will be excellent in texture, juiciness and tenderness throughout the entire slice.Wood used is cherry and oak which gives it more of a mild to medium smoke flavour. I prefer Hickory which gives more smoky distinct flavour to it and this is usually the more popular choice for smoking wood. All in all, it was ok. You save us a long trip from visiting the BBQ Jesus Aaron Franklin in Texas and you're halal!
