I went there today with my family for Mother's day. The food is overpriced and it didn't taste that good. We waiting over one hour to get our food, meanwhile the table besides got their food in no time because the waitress knew them. When the waitress first approached our table, she was chewing gum with her mouth opened., absolutely horrible service. The bottle of wine was brought to the table already opened and we were still charged $90 for 2 bottles of the cheapest one. My brother's code fish was raw, my Robalo had no taste. My family and I will definitely not going back.Overpriced, horrible service and the food was so so.
First time visiting this restaurant, & my expectations were well exceeded! The restaurant itself is pretty small, & there was only one server working the entire restaurant, but she was pleasant & did her best to check on her tables. The starters were great with a basket of bread & a small tray of black olives, cheese, & a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar & red onions to dip.The fish was cooked to perfection & absolutely delicious. Very tender & juicy, & flavourful. We did not feel rushed at all & enjoyed our time here.
The food was ok. To be honest, it didn't meet my expectations for a Portuguese restaurant. The Bacalhau and the Carne de porco à Alentejana were good. The Bife à casa, which was supposed to come with ham, it did, but it was like 1/5 of a slice under a fried egg. The Escalopes with mushrooms, which is a very popular dish for its special sauce, had no sauce at all. The Natas do Céu were watery. The waitress was not helpful at all - hadn't we asked questions, she wouldn't had opened her mouth! We get better service and feel more welcomed when we go to a Boston Pizza!
Good service and excellent food
There are not many places that have real authentic Portuguese chicken. Leao D’ouro is one of two places that I can say are the best in the city. Their caldo verde is also delicious. We always tend to order these 2 items together, along with some cod fish cakes. Great service and great quality food!
Well… best dinner we had an a very long time!!! Service was excellent ( Thank you Tatiana) , apps were excellent, order grilled octopus, caldo verde, entree, grilled sea bass with veggies and potatoes, fish tasted fresh, well seasoned and soooo good!!’ Well worth the drive from Hamilton! Thank you! We will be back!
This is a great example of how an employee with no customer service skills can make clients decide no return to a business. My personal experience: there was 2 waitresses: a man and a young woman. The lady was ok, very nice and willing to help us with part of our order. The man, OMG, I never have had so terrible experience in my life. Firstly, he was arguing with us every time we let him know if something was missing on the order, example, the salad.Secondly, he intentionally suggested to do small changes in our order but never mentioned how much that change will make your bill to increase. Finally, I asked for regular or flat water but this guy refused to bring tap water, instead he brought an imported bottle of water, which he did not open in front of us. That expensive bottle of water came open from the kitchen with no guarantee if it's really botteled or tap water. Conclusion, the food was excellent, place was clean and nice, but personally will not recommend to go until the manager make some corrective actions with this guy.
Coming to Leao Douro was over all a disaster. Unprofessional staff and horrible food. Over priced for rice that came under cooked (felt like eating pebbles) and cold. Veal was not good at all no flavour and dry. There was no bread either, would not recommend coming here to eat.
Delicious food but the service was a bit disappointing. Took a long time to get the staff's attention to be seated and had to wait for more time to order when the restaurant was not busy.
The family combo was def worth it! The potatoes were excellent. However the hard was still hard but it was okay. The shrimp patties were nice too!
