We went to Idli street last week and we were very excited to try out this place but Sadly our experience was not good. We ordered few items which were ok nothing exceptionally good. We also ordered choco dosa for our 2 years old and when they served it, it was burnt, it tasted bitter and it was smelling like burnt food so I requested the lady who was serving to change it as my child won’t be able to eat it. She said ok I will do it and took the plate to one of her colleague. Her colleague came and said that it’s not burnt it’s chocolate. I tried to explain her the whole thing and she took the plate and said she will ask the chef. After few minutes she came back and said chef said we won’t change it as this is how chocolate dosa looks. We didn’t want to say anything over this anymore as it was clear that trying to explain them is complete waste of time as they are convinced that it’s not their fault. I won’t lie they are very welcoming but people go there to eat and if they serve this kind of food then definitely can’t expect a good review. We won’t go there again but I wanted to share my experience. Attaching the pics of choco dosa where you can clearly see that the dosa is burnt.
This place is way better than GURULAKSHMI ! I am comparing to it because apparently people say it’s really good. This place has some interesting delicious appetizers compared to other dosa joints. I don’t know what we got because it was the owner who recommended what to order for appetizers, everything was yummy. All I remember is Gobi 65 which was very good, especially the masala it had on top.We ordered Idli chaat! Yes they have idli chaat. At first I made a face because who has idli as chaat, but I was wrong, it was actually a good weird combo. I would recommend ordering it.Any Ghee fans should for sure order Ghee Roast Dosa because the flavour it had was just delicious. I could have had 3 of these in one go.My only complaint will be for the paper Masala dosa. I know paper dosa is always meant to be longer than the regular dosa. We got masala dosa and paper dosa together. Both the dosas looked exactly same. If it’s advertised as paper then it should be longer than a regular dosa.Idli fans should order Podi Idli, one of my favourite dishes.Any fans for lemonade should definitely order mojito or lemonade both of them were pretty good and spot on.Overall the experience was good. The customer service and ambience was welcoming. The Owners made sure we were taken care.I hope the next time I visit will make me want to add the extra star, but only if they can give me the paper dosa a bit LONGER than the regular ones.
Finally a good place for South Indian food in Brampton. Good ambience and spacious restaurant. Very good menu accommodating vegetarian and non vegetarian both. Tried two different types of masala dosas, idli and vadas, Gobi 65. Chatnies and sambar were very good. A must try is filter coffee. It took time for someone to take order but after that service was quick. Definitely a must visit if you like South Indian food.
We had a lovely experience at Idli Street. We were seated within 10 mins, immediately placed the order and the first dishes arrived in 5 mins. The food was delicious, although the chutney is slightly less than I am used to. The masala in biryani and Chicken 65 was very well balanced. On top of that, the staff was very courteous and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome and we had a great experience overall.
I have ordered a takeout with plain idli, set dosa and paneer biryani. All the items were good and enough portions for the prices. They gave plenty of chutney and sambar with idli and set dosa. The paneer biryani had fresh and soft paneer with homemade style Palau. If you don’t expect a Hyd dum style rice, then it’s a nice and tasty biryani.
It was highly recommended by a friend so ordered for lunch today dosa idli combo madhurai mutton and kerala parotha...sorry to say it was very very basic..small mutton portion for the price and the parothas were not freshly made but refried of the previous evening hard and unfresh and mutton was okay..dosa was salty. Very disappointing. Just another wannabe indian restaurant.
Huge variety of south indian food. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Loved their hospitality and food was really delicious. In sweet, we had gulab jamuns, they were super soft and yummy????Food was so tempting ?that we missed to click some more pictures?
I ordered veg thali and chicken 65 biryani.. the biryani came in good quantity and was delicious except that it was a bit spicy for me.. and the veg thali had two veg curries, rice, daal/sambhar , a paratha, curd and one gulab jamun. It was delicious too.. both the dishes were very good in quantity and at very affordable price. I had the filter coffee here and it was very authentic and yummy .. will definitely visit this place for their filter coffee.
