Due to covid, I do not recommend this at all. They want us to pay a $1 fee per person to wash the utensils. So they just lost a $40 sale due to a dollar per person greedy fee. Bring your own utensils or go somewhere else. No customer service. If I could do a 0 star review I would.
Excellent fish & chips at a very fair price. We dined in and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Not fancy, but just fine for a great meal experience with friends. We'll be back!
I've been going to homestyle for years but I don't know what the hell they're doing recently? Why am I paying more for less? Quality-wise it's about the same as before but the portions are significantly smaller while the price has significantly risen. I literally got half of what I would normally get while paying more, I honestly feel ripped off. I've never had this issue before. The next time I'm craving fish and chips I'm most likely not returning and I feel like most of the long-time customers would agree with me. Also what fish and chip joint doesn't offer malt vinegar? Like why?
Workers seemed quite disorganized. Also questioning their cleanliness as when I visited, an older man got some blood on the plastic barrier between the worker and the customers. One of the workers there, an older lady, wiped away the blood but did not change her glove afterwards. It looks like she tried to sanitize her glove, but hand sanitizer doesn't work on rubber gloves. She then proceeded to help package food and serve customers. The fish itself was okay, and the fries were satisfactory, but nothing special. Definitely will not be going back.
Prior to the pandemic, this had been my go-to fish and chips place for 10 years. I recently went back to Homestyle and have had fish and chips from there 3 times over the past couple of months and have found that things have changed. The prices have increased which is understandable considering higher costs of ingredients, etc. but the service is definitely not as friendly as it used to be and the fish portions are noticeably smaller. If you order the haddock and fries, instead of getting a short, plump piece of fish like in the past, you now get a long, very thin strip of fish which feels like more batter than fish which was not the case in the past. On one occasion, I went in and placed a walk-in order and came back to pick up my order only to see people who had come in and ordered after me having their order prepared and served first. As a result, I have recently started ordering from a different fish and chips place that I think will become my new go-to from now on.
Called in an order for dinner. The order was ready for pick-up in ten minutes. It was ready and waiting when I arrived. Very efficient and positive experience. Pricing is reasonable.
It's not bad. This spot actually used to be my favorite spot for fish and chips in Mississauga because the deals were so unbelievably priced and the fries were addictive. I think the fact that the store owners know the regulars by name attests to the longstanding reputation of quality.Even after ownership changed it was still pretty good, but lately it feels like there are some problems with consistency. On my last visit the fries were undercooked and a little anemic and the fish portions definitely feel like they shrunk, which then of course leads to the fish tasting overcooked and feeling over-battered.All said and done, the value from the lunch deals are still pretty great and this is gonna continue to be my fish and chips spot until something better pops up.
Fish and chips were ok. But my husband thinks they were a bit stingy on the tartar sauce. He asked for another one and he was told that's enough for two meals.
When I was there today picking up an order I witnessed the owner refuse a refund to another customer that had a piece of used mask in their food. This place use to be good under the former owners. Now it is disgusting to say the least.
This place use to be so good under different management and ownership. Now I totally agree with the other recent remarks about this place being terrible and not what it use to be. smaller portions, rude cashier and longer wait times.
