Food is okay but too expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants in its class. I won't be back because of the price.
Not as good as it once was. This was my go-to dim sum place for work and personal lunches for 20 years. However, after going there for the first time since the pandemic, I've noticed a huge decline in quality of food, service and massive increase in prices. They now charge 2.99 for tea which was once free and a medium dim sum plate is $4.99. Like other reviewers have said, they don't send fresh food and dishes out regularly. We sat there for 20 minutes and the same 3 carts kept cycling through even though the restaurant was full.
I had high hopes when we first sat down. It is nice and spacious and it was busy so we thought it must be good. The food that we were able to get was good but the service was terrible. Hardly any carts went by our table - we were about to leave after an hour even though we were still hungry but my sister got up and asked one of the women pushing the carts to please come to our table. For some reason half the carts kept skipping our row by the windows. We also had to spend several minutes flagging a waiter down to get some water after which he finally brought 5 small glasses of water to our table of 6 people.
I’ve never reviewed a restaurant before but I feel that I need to share my experience about this restaurant. My husband and I went for lunch. Order 4 dishes from the cart. The bill came out to $70. That means each dish was 17? For Dim sum? Makes no sense. I tried to question the bill but the waiter just brushed me off. Just remember that COVID affected everyone’s pockets too. We will never go back to that restaurant again.
Would not be coming back here again, they use some predatory sales behavior, servers keep pushing lobster or crab balls and never tell you the price. we ordered an order of the crab balls thinking it would at most be a $10 dish, once you get the bill, it was a $22 dish. What type of dim sum dish costs $22/order! it was quite the sticker shock, between 2 adults and 2 kids, our bill came out to $110. way above what we were expecting for Dim Sum. Facilities are dated, as other users says, food sits on carts for a while and the servers keep pushing the same lobster dishes until it is sold.
We enjoy eating dimsum and decided to go to this place for lunch. The dimsum are served in carts that go around the restaurant for customers to choose from. We had roasted pork, sticky rice, tripes, chicken feet, har gaw, shumai. Everything was good, price is reasonable and portions are just right. Though there were a lot of customers, tables are adequately distanced. 12% service charge is already included in the bill.
Used to be worth the money. Ridiculous price increase. I understand food prices have increased, but if it costs 3 people $130 for dim sum and they still walk out hungry, something is wrong.
Great selection of your favourite dim sum dishes. Service was very fast and thorough. They seem a bit understaffed but was still able to sit us down at a table very quickly without a reservation. Price is affordable and of great value.Would recommend anyone who likes dim sum to give it a try!
We enjoyed the dim sum. We had duck, rice noodle with beef and shrimp, sticky rice, shrimp wonton, Cantonese noodles, and pork dumplings. Everything was delicious and came quickly. Emerald Chinese Restaurant is the only place I will order duck!
Great service! Service charge is included so no need to worry about calculating that! First time we had dim sum in years! The cart dim sum is pretty rare nowadays. It's great for the west end of GTA since the population here probably won't understand the dim sum menu. All the classic items were available, Siu Mai, Cheng Fun, Casserole Rice, Short Ribs, Squid, Taro Cake and more! They had steamed garlic oysters too. Soo delicious! Glad we have an option for Chinese dim sum in the west end!
