Ordered the Chicken Chimichanga, it was quite good and flavourful. My only issue is the portion, it was smaller that I thought or maybe I am just a big boy ?. The venue quite small and packed! The outside seating was pleasant especially on summer days. The server was nice and understandably overwhelmed. They were out of steak when I went so will be returning to try out the tacos. Overall, definitely worth a try if you are in the area.
5 stars for decor and theme.2 stars for service - arrogant and do not show attention to customer needs...at least our waiter did not. He just tries to drop off plates and items at edge of table...maybe set up the sideplates and utensils for the respective seats...don't just drop them at the corner of the table as you rush by.2 stars for the food:And sorry, the tacos were sub par too...smallest piece of fish, pulled "steak" for the steak option, too many large onion chunks in the guac, slaw in the cod taco tasted like a ketchup, mustard, pickle mix, and did not mix well for me. Maybe a touch of salt on the burnt natchos? (for guac dip)Prolly won't go back.
The food was great and extremely delicious, however the wait time (for getting a table and waiting for the food) was a little longer than expected. Is it worth the wait? I suppose so!
This is a very popular place. We ordered chicken tacos, fish tacos, quesadillas and Queso Fundido. The chicken taco was soooo spicy and I did not enjoy the flavour. I had told the waitress I didn't like spicy food and she didn't warn me. In truth, we weren't happy with our waitress. More on that later. The fish taco was awesome. It was delicious. I would go back to order the fish tacos on take out. I wouldn't go dine in again. The queso looked burned but didn't taste burned. It was difficult to eat. It's supposed to be a dip but I needed a knife to make it edible. I'm guessing it's not supposed too be like that. The quesadillas was good. Our waitress didn't bring any napkins or cutlery our table. The Coke we ordered was flat. My guest had to get up and go to the bar to get napkins. Sir didn't even ask us if we wanted water. I would have given it a 2 star if the fish taco wasnt so delicious. I won't be back to dine but I may order the fish tacos to go if I'm in the area.
The place itself, especially the patio has a great atmosphere. The drinks felt watered down though, margaritas were barely sour.Food-wise the portions are smaller than I remember and the food tasted a bit bland overall. The guac was a tiny bowl but the chips were great. Wish there were more variety in taco toppings, they're pretty much the same with either slaw or pico. The steak taco was shredded steak which was disappointing.
~~ HALAL CHICKEN ~~Atmosphere and place was great but food was bland and tasteless. All the food was pretty bland not spicy or flavorful at all.I wouldn't come again personally but still glad I tried it once !Prices were a little on the higher side and there's extra charges for basic things like jalapeños and sauces.Would of preferred grilled chicken pieces instead of pulled chicken in the tacos and actual fries instead of flour thingys those are filling tho!
Reaaaally happy I listened to my friends recommendation and tried out El Jefe for dinner. The food, drinks, atmosphere and staff were all amazing. Danny was our server, he was very attentive and very honest which I love. Always made sure our water glasses were full ?. Came online and am literally shocked to see the ratings aren't higher.. they definitely deserve all the stars and all the praise!
WOW WHAT A PATIO!!!Love Love Love this place! I had to update my previous five star review because it does not do justice! The absolute best patio in all of Port Credit if not all of Mississauga! Great vibes especially when the sun is out!Amazing food! The guac is to die for along with the great selection of tacos! The Ceviche is amazing and the churros will make your night !!Be sure to come in the evening and stay for the late night vibes! They offer some great music and great drink specials !! Great place to come with a group of friends! My only complaint is the patio is not big enough!
Finally able to try El Jefe for the first time. The place is beautifully decorated, We really like all the artistic murals and decors all throughout the restaurant. They have a heated patio too. Place is spacious, seats are comfortable. The staff were so friendly and very welcoming. Special hello to Angie! Thank you! Most importantly, food is great! We had vegetarian nachos, the mango salsa is yum! Nachos were so crispy. Good for 2-3 persons.Chimichanga was really good. It had a very generous topping w/c we really loved! We really enjoyed this dish.Tacos- Vampiro: steak. It was good. A bit chewy but overall, it’s still good.Pescado: fish. This is a must try.Burrito bowl with steak, meat was tasty, though some pieces were a bit chewy but still would say that this also a must try. Good amount of serving. They also have a good selection of drinks menu. Would definitely try that next time.
