This place uses to be the best hakka restaurant in the gta. I have eaten at various hakka restaurants over the past few years and nothing comes close to this place....until the new management or owners took over.Food quality and taste is now pretty average. It's a shame, this place used to be legendary. Hopefully the new owners can figure it out but until then I'll go somewhere else.
I have been eating at this location since 2008.I ordered food a month ago and the food was edible but not great. I thought any location can have one bad day. I ordered today and the food was not edible. I threw $50 worth of food in the garbage. You know when shrimp has been frozen and thawed too many times it starts to get a yellow build up on it... this was in my food. The gravy on the kung pao veggies ( ordered kung pao chicken but only 4 pieces in the entire dish) ordered chili chicken also the result of the food was horrible. If the owner of the brand tasted that food he would shut door the location. What are you thinking . This is good that people have to eat. $50 on food at the end of the week is a treat.Think beyond your own pockets. Cook the food fresh. Nothing should leave the kitchen that you yourself would not eat.Honor the brand.Horrible food now!
I have been coming here for 20 years and always had the chilli chicken dry. Now I think it’s under new management not the really nice Chinese couple anymore and the food is disgusting. The chilli chicken had so much garlic in it I can still taste it many hours later. The coating was not crispy but soggy and gross. There was no ginger that I could detect. Basically these new people ruined my favourite dish.
Food use to be amazing at one time. Visited last week and was told that dine in had been stopped. Ordered take out and was very disappointed with the quality and quantity that was served. Too bad.....need to look for another Hakka restaurant
Best Hakka food I have ever had. I have been here more than 20 times when doing our shows in Toronto. The chilly chicken and fish dry is just amazing. I have not found any place that comes close. This place is a dive and in the old days you can never find a table. But these days its easier. Much more competition.
I am giving China Garden a one star because of our last dining experience. While we were waiting for our food at the table by the window in the family seating area I saw a large cockroach crawling from the wall to another table. I told the lady serving that there was a cockroach in the table and she did nothing. My boyfriend then tells her that I don’t want to eat the food because of my seeing the cockroach so she thereafter gets a napkin to kill it. I was super disgusted. That was the last time going there. Such a shame because the food is amazing but I can only imagine all the health violations in that kitchen. We used to go there all the time and order at least once a week. Oh and despite that experience we had to pay the food. Very disgusted. Some people don’t know the value in good customer service and maintaining good food practices.
Have been going there for over 10 years. The food used to be awesome, but the quality has been going down for the past year or so. Ordered veg manchurian today, and the manchurian balls hardly had any veggies in them. More doughy than anything else. I guess this is the last time I got food from there.
Got 2 chili chicken dry with satay beef x 2 on Dec 24 lunch time and rice was so sticky and was so chunky, chili chicken has no flavor in them and beef was marinated with so much potato starch and taste so weird like plastic!! I've been eating here for more than 10 years and this time was unbelievable. haven't been back for over a year and this time was so disappointed! I think I will never go back again.
Ordered 5 lunches. Veg chow mein hardly had any veggies. Sweet and sour chicken was tasteless and rice was hard. Shrimp pork and chicken chow mein noodles were hard and dry. I suspect as ordered when first open were leftovers reheated from day before. Have usually had good food here but today’s meals were terrible.
This place should be called Hakka heaven. Literally the best Indo-Chinese food I've ever had, even better than some spots in India.I think that the owners are from India and you could just taste the delicious mash up of Indian and Chinese culinary traditions in their food.- American Chop suey: pretty darn good, the sauce was the best I've ever had in Canada. Fried noodles: crunchy egg noodles would've been lighter than deep fried puffy vermicelli. But that sauce ***chef kiss***- chili chicken: packed with lots of ginger, garlic and fresh chilies, none of that gross tomatoey goo and sugar- Hakka noodles: we got chicken and they were awesome as well.If and when we are back in Toronto we will be back.
