We used to come prepandemic for cheap food, it was probably one of few remaining old style Chinese restaurants around. Food was average, but it was pretty filthy and outdated. They renovated and reopened during the pandemic, the dim sum is superb with lots of variety and new selections. Decor has been completed updated and much cleaner now. Prices have gone up but is on par with other restaurants.
They have some unique items like the crispy red cheung fun (I think that was my fave item) and the ham sui gok was so cute and shaped like a pear. Overall the dim sum is like other places but their menu isn't that extensive. Strangely, they didn't give us two items that we ordered (they weren't even noted on the receipt), and they also didn't have a very common tea (shoumei) that all dim sum places have. Maybe they just ran out that weekend? The restaurant itself looks grand and it fits a lot of people, so we luckily didn't have to wait for a table when we went on a Saturday at 10:30am
This was my favourite place for dim sum as a kid, they used to have ladies walking around with the carts and you could literally take it from them and they’ll mark it off on a card. Now, it seems like they have been more “modernized” since their renovation - their prices are a lot more expensive, quality has slightly improved but it wouldn’t be something I would pay for. This isn’t to say that the food isn’t good - it’s really good, just the prices are a turn-off. I was really impressed with their steamed soup dumplings though, they made it very well and that itself was worth it.Lots of people, so you need to book. I suggest parking at the back of the building since there’s an exterior exit. If you’re entering the mall from there, go to the side (north side) and there’s a sketchy door labelled “mall entrance”. Go in through there.
We really enjoyed our dim sum experience at New Century. The plating, quality and portion sizes were impressive and the staff were very courteous and attentive. The prices were higher than the norm, but it felt worth it given the size, quality and freshness of the food served. It was a great experience and would definitely return again soon!
Same name but different menu and fully renovated since Covid shutdowns. Interior and dim sum is much more modern (no longer with the push cart dim sum). The tea was exceptional and food was above average. Prices are average and the service was quick.
Fantastic Chinese restaurant in Markham! The food was cooked perfectly, presented beautifully, and the service was top tier. We visited for my grandfather's 96th birthday and will be going again soon for the next family celebration!
Good food under renovated dining room
Instagram @chopstixinthesix Follow Us!!We got Steamed Pork Dumpling (XLB), Steamed Shrimp Scallop Dumpling, Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Bean Sauce, Steamed Pork Bean Curd Sheet roll w/ Oyster Sauce, Baked BBQ Pork Bun, Cheung Fun w/ Crispy Shrimp Roll, and Deep Fried Octopus Tentacles. Shrimp Scallop Dumpling was the Salmon Rose-looking dumplings, it was very similar to Har Gao, it was delicious! Chicken Feet, Bean Curd Sheet Roll and XLB were very flavourful as well! We HIGHLY recommend the Baked BBQ Pork Bun and Cheung Fun, the Bun came loaded with BBQ Pork, it was served warm and so delicious; Imagine this Rice Roll had Shrimp Spring Roll wrapped in it, it was very crispy and delicious! The Octopus Tentacles came in a HUGE portion as well, it was crispy and delicious!
Excellent Dim sum with lots of varieties. Egg tart is a must try. New and nice ambiance
- Food: is pretty good and clean ?- Environment: Clean and bright- Tea: Insider knows DimSum goes with tea. That’s the tradition. If you order a pot of tea, you can actually see perfect tea leafs inside the tea pot, not branches or residue.- Cost: ouch! and also no birthday special ?* Sorry, I was starving, so forgot camera eats first ?
