This place serves HK style food but it looks like one of those American style restaurants, which is quite unique. The food is quite good, they are famous for their wings which I would recommend. The price is actually not bad, definitely a cool spot to hangout.
I have been to the place for over 10 years still love the restaurant, and the new location even better.Very comfortable and cozy seating area. Stuffs are friendly and service is fast. The food price haven’t changed much, still the best price in town.I really love the food there, especially their chicken wings basket, which come with different flavors, crispy and delicious.Overall I think it is a really place for you and your friends or family to enjoy good and reasonable priced food in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere.
Update as of July 2022 - food comes out super quick, portions are big and food is great overall. Still haven’t tried the drive thru though
On the lookout for another decent HK cafe: Cafe Hollywood caught my eye, with a number of good nominations. Like a seasoned actor, it has been around since 1994. And like a keen moviegoer, I had such high hopes upon seeing Oscar statues adorning its gate. The cavernous cafe interior resembled a sports bar. Individual tables were well-spaced with safe dividers. We seated immediately, which was a nice change from waitlists for smaller cafes nearby. The simple menu had an assortment of all day breakfasts & combos. The wings appeared front & centre on the menu. We ordered a sampling of 3 items which was more than enough for our dinner.French Toast was served as a huge cube, with doughy bread inside. It was still fairly plain despite adding syrup + butter on top. On the other hand, Portuguese Style Baked Chicken with rice came smothered in a rich coconut curry sauce. The huge plate of rice was enough for two meals but mishap occurred with the chicken baked dry. The chipped plate had also seen better days. The accompanied milk tea was a typical steeped version. When intro dishes didn't wow us, I reminded my wife that the HK-style Wing Basket was next to arrive. We saw many such baskets out of the kitchen. It was anti-climatic when it was brought forth to our table; 20 chicken wings were crispy with egg batter yet also slightly dry. It was only a notch better than those at Asian groceries. I'd add pepper chili if I were to try it next time. Lightly seasoned fries under the wings definitely relied on the gravy. So is Cafe Hollywood deserving of our award? Friendly service & spacious environment but no dish for the highlight reel. It was a bit of a flop for us to be honest, and isn't going on our A-list of recommended options. Other upstart HK cafes surpass it in creativity & flavour.
Went for lunch, it was quite busy but the wait for a seat wasn't too long. Ordered a Happy Meal with chicken and short ribs w/spaghetti and gravy, Indonesian Fried Rice, and Bolognese sphagetti. The short ribs were very soft, the fried rice was quite spicy, and the bolognese was very creamy. The staff were very friendly and great when interacting with my toddler.
Hong Kong style food served here. We came here for lunch and the food and service was quite good. Ordered a variety of dishes and we really enjoyed the deep fried chicken wings (on a bed of fries) with honey garlic sauce. We will definitely come back to eat or drink...
I ordered an all day breakfast A04 beef in satay sauce vermicelli (with bread, Ham and egg and coffee or tea) as my lunch. The satay sauce is nice, not to salty. Glad to see that salted butter is adopted. This makes the bread delightfully tasteful! (Sorry, this is my personal favour). The Hong Kong style milk tea is very silky. Great! The attendants are very polite, in particular very considerate to the elderly. Appreciate. Thanks this cafe for giving me nice oasis / breathing space in a frenetic schedule.
Service was pretty bad I can't lie. We tried getting the attention of our waitress, but she kept giving us the hand. And once we did get service, she kept speaking Canto. Lady, we're all speaking English. So she then delegated a new waiter to us that spoke fluent English. He was great. In that one service, we had 4 different waiters and waitresses. The food was good. I order the beef satay vermicelli (that I did not know was soup). My HK buddy recommended it to me. My bro got some type of pork chop with creamy tomato sauce on rice. That was delicious and my mum got grilled chicken ramen. The HK milk tea was great too!I attached the receipt so you know the prices.
You can't found better choices and taste Wings nowhere. First seen scramble egg on baked pork chops rice with tomato sauce ? the taste not bad on curry beef brisket in Malaysian style. (generous amount of curry sauce will be appreciated)
Food was pretty good and fairly priced! I ordered the Portuguese chicken, chicken ramen as well as fish and chips. They gave relatively big portions but was lacking in the fish and chips. Overall a good restaurant :)
