Congee Queen has long been one of my fav restaurants. So it's long overdue for another review! It seems like only yesterday when they opened their first location at Steeles/404. Fast forward a dozen years and the Queen has now established many footprints in GTA suburbs. This review is for the Hwy 7/404 location, yet what keeps us coming back is the fact that the food is generally consistent at all of them. The winning formula for me is usually their Supreme Super Bowl, Salt & Pepper Squid, and Grouper & Fried Bean Curd in Hot Pot. Then mix in a few other hits like their Chinese BBQ or Sweet & Sour Pork for variety. I have family that comes for the BBQ alone. The menu is also extensive for those feeling adventurous. Not everyone comes here for congee, but I do! The congee is silky smooth & the Super Bowl comes loaded with ingredients such as prawn, arctic clam and fish fillet. Dash soy & pepper to taste, and voilà - comfort food. Salt & Pepper Squid is big on flavour with a light batter for crunch. The braised fish with fried tofu claypot comes sizzling and absorbs all of the thick oyster sauce. This would be perfect with rice, perhaps some Empress Eel Fried Rice. I'm almost drooling just thinking it.Congee Queen offers a unique combination of delicious & wide ranging dishes, with generous portions at affordable prices. The restaurant has a loyal patron base, so I'm not surprised by their continued success despite the pandemic limitations. Long live the Queen!

I live near both this location and the Don Mills and Steeles location, and I have to say - this location is a lot better than the other one. We have been coming to this location for many years, when they still had their Afternoon Tea special where you could get a free beverage most food items. They scrapped it now probably because they were losing money from COVID, but their food is actually really good. They have a wide variety of Chinese dishes that are well suited for many. Try their Fried Chili Turnip Patties (not in the picture), it's amazing. They are usually open late and have quick service. During peak hours, you may have to wait a bit for a table. However, the food comes out really quick and the quality of the food is exceptional. If you are planning to take out, I would also recommend it! Order it from the Congee Queen app - you can pay through the app, and they usually give you a free dish if you order over a threshold. If you don't order through the app, I believe they are still doing a 10% cash discount if you order at the restaurant or over the phone.

about 7 pieces of beef brisket in soup were uneatable and fiberous . manager anna would not replace the meal or add some eatable brisket pieces I haven't attented this restaurant for 1 1/2 years previous. Her answer "that's the way it is and accept it. I have eaten this dish at many chinese restaurants . Never had such a terrible ordeal.

A great Chinese restaurant that serves classic Cantonese style dishes. One our family go to places when visiting Toronto. All the dishes are well prepared and flavourful, the stir fried dishes has the nice smokiness from the wok. Seafood big bowl is another one of our favourite dishes.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Congee Queen since 2014, I enjoyed literally all the dishes on their menu and all of their branches are offering fantastic performance regarding their food, services, decorations, and atmosphere. I visited this branch on Hwy7, everything’s been going well. It’s great that they have large areas for parking and seatings, so you don’t have to worry about those to ruin your dining plan or mood. I’ve noticed that they have introduced a bunch of new dishes on their most recent menu, I tried it today and it is absolutely delicious. I will definitely come back with more of my friends. Last but not the least, I’m also super satisfied with the service and smiles from Anna. You would be lucky if you had her next time!

Was seated quickly at booth. Fast and courteous service. Food was good as always, congee was a bit too thick for my liking but that's a personal preference. Overall solid 4 stars.

We ordered the congee with duck & chicken and the wonton dumplings & noodles for dinner. The food was was very good.

Every time food istop notch. Tasty and we'll presented. Recommended

Closer to authentic Chinese food than most restaurants billing themselves as Chinese, this place is popular, and can get busy when there are no COVID restrictions in place. We are working our way through the menu, and so far thoroughly enjoyed every dish we tried. A family favorite is the shrimp and chives rice noodle roll, P3.

Near 3 hour wait for pick up order through their app. Granted, new years eve and really busy. But heard plenty of order numbers after my # getting served before, while i waited patiently to the side not hovering around the cashier, per their request. Finally crowd thinned after 2 h waiting, and seems to me the cashier just printed my order at moment and brought it to the kitchen. Then waited for them to cook it. Also saying numbers out in Cantonese was hard to decipher, since i don't speak it. You're a mature restaurant and you know it's NYE. It isn't hard to communicate the queue time to everyone waiting and organize it.Edit: went home and saw that one of 8 items was missing. Called restaurant and they said they can only give me a store credit, forcing me to go there again, and could not refund me directly on my card.
