I took the GF out for a nice dinner and decided to try the Villa Cornelia. I wanted something other than the corporate experience of Chop or Moxies. First time and I was happy with the food. I was disappointed there was no beef option. I think the Chef could do wonders with beef, considering how great our food was. The dessert selection was great. I really wanted that black cherry dish for dessert, but they ran out. Our Waitress, Barb, was terrific. Water glass full all the time, and she was fun to talk to. The décor was elegant. Very Victorian. You know, overall, I really enjoyed the experience.
Truly a hidden gem just off the beaten path in downtown London. Our server Sandra was attentive without hovering. The food was delicious with unique bursts of flavour, loved the dijon mustard flavoured icecream in the gazpacho. The atmosphere is delightful from the bread being served on a silver tray to the antique cabinets filled with teapots. Also appreciated that our server wore a mask even though its no longer required.
We went to this lovely restaurant for the first time last week.Let me tell ya -- it was amazing! The building is an old, unique structure. We were given a tour of the entire home! The food was even better - carefully and thoughtfully created by the chef.It was amazing! Will be returning.
First visit, lovely. Beautiful atmosphere and background music. Waitress Sandra attentive to all our needs and so personable and friendly. Our dinner was delicious from the soup to salad to main entree and dessert. Highly recommend a visit. Chef Philippe did an extraordinary meal. Was amazing !! Hats off to the Chef!!!
My first visit here, lovely atmosphere, overall had a wonderful experience here, everything was on point from the wine to the dessert, chef Philippe is an amazing chef, everything was outstanding, and our waitress Sandra was very attentive. Looking forward to our next visit here. Would highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
I’ve been here before and came on a first date with my better half about 5 years ago, during a great Londonlicious experience. Was great then. Came back again with her tonight for another Londonlicious blizzard edition (though a bit delayed thanks to COVID) and great again!I’m a bit taken aback from some other very poor reviews because it has been good when I’ve been here, with no issues food-wise or race-wise (at least when I have been there).Sandra took care of us tonight, she was so nice and we had a great conversation. I started with the Love Potion drink (sure, a bit overpriced but tasty) and then some nice wine.I’m vegetarian and they had good options, even with Londonlicious (some others don’t have good options). I had the cauliflower soup with garlic and croutons to start (as did my partner) and we both enjoyed it. Great on a cold night, nice and creamy, good portion. She had the chicken roulade as an entree and I had the ricotta gnocchi. The chicken was so tender and the gravy was tasty, not enough Brussels sprouts though but they are definitely not for everyone (she’s a tad British). My gnocchi was soft and good with the tomato coulis and peas and broccolini. A few of the broccoli pieces were slightly undercooked but tough when you have different sizes to have it all perfectly cooked. The portions were all just right - not too much to feel overdone but not too little to feel like you didn’t get the value. We both also had the crème brûlée for dessert. Some nice fresh fruit on top to balance the creamy custard, still warm, nicely caramelized. I recently had the same dessert elsewhere but can say this was better.I love the house, the atmosphere, some nice jazz music on, good food, good service (thank you again Sandra!!). I would definitely go back and hope others will at least give it a try, after the last couple years and with things loosening up, obviously the whole industry needs to get back up and running.I wish I had pics but by the time I thought about it, we were done haha. I guess that makes it a good date night ;)
Excellent meal, service and ambiance. One of london hidden gems. Outstanding French chef. Comparable to some of Toronto's best. Skip the chains and treat yourself.
First time I have been to Villa Cornelia. Such an incredibly beautiful house. Inside it is furnished elegantly with sophisticated with background dinner music. My friend had the Roasted Vegetable Salad. I had the exquisite Charcueterie Board which was a huge offering with fine Brie, smoked meats, delicious chicken pate, pickled onions & carrots etc.We both had the steak for our main, which was plated nicely and came with a most unusual yet enticing baked potato square and Toasted Brussel Sprouts with bacon. It was quite lovely. For dessert we both had the French Tartlett with homemade ice cream. It did not disappoint.
