I rate my visit with a 4 star as the food wasn't great and the chefs kept getting my order incorrect. This 4 star is all because of our server. She was truly an amazing waitress. I would go again just to be served by her.Great service.
June 4th 2:00pm: The food was fine, just a classic chicken dinner. The coconut pie was good. When we entered the reception greeting part was just so cold. I think he was floor supervisor that day and he just seemed so unimpressed by the job or maybe something happened. But our server was super wonderful and even other servers serving other tables were wonderful. The floor supervisor literally was sitting on his phone and the dining area under the tables was messy and fries were on the floor and the dining area was empty no busy peak hours or rush. Only person to notice that was the General Manager in black uniform and I could tell because he actually looked concerned about the restaurant. Shout out to our server Christine, amazing service and wonderful person! You earned these stars?
I called a day ahead to make a special request for my visit the following day, and the front hostess, J- - - - who answered the phone was very accommodating. Even though my request was a little unusual, & went against established Swiss Chalet policies, she took the time to listen patiently & go talk to her manager about it.Dave, the manager, agreed to accommodate my request & my wife & I arrived the next day with no issues whatsoever, as I had hoped. I noticed that they had even written a special note on their seating document at the podium stand with my name on it, so that any staff member working there would be aware of my special request.The food was great, (as it always is in-restaurant) & our server was professional, & accommodated yet another slightly unusual request of mine regarding method of payment, without any negativity.I'd like to thank the staff, especially hostess J - - - - & manager Dave, for taking the time to listen to & grant my request, & accommodate me, without any excuses or judgement.Very refreshing to see employees on all levels doing their jobs well , & keeping customer service, patience, & kindness alive. J - - - - & Dave are true professionals who really have their customer's best interests in mind.Strongly recommended. Swiss Chalet corporate should seriously consider utilizing experienced hostess J - - - - , & manager Dave to train other employees within the company, (& give them both a raise while they're at it).
We just wanted to say how wonderful the Highbury location of Swiss Chalet is. We have been coming to this location for years and have moved to various locations in the city but always travel across the city every week to come for dinner. To begin, the moment we walk in and are greeted by Jenn/Hostess it is so welcoming to see the joy in what she does, she always brightens our day as well as is so compassionate when seating guests and taking the time to explain the menu, specials and current promo’s while taking her time for elderly guests by not leaving them in the dust while taking them to their tables like other seem to when working. The kindness that exudes from Jenn is outstanding, appreciated & very exceptional. Now on to the meal, We always sit in Nicole’s section, and whenever Nicole is not working we tend to go to Christian. These two ladies have been at Swiss chalet for I want to say forever and we have seen them grow so much and evolve into powerful, strong and independent women, Nicole has pursued greater education and worked very hard at her future career while raising children and working two jobs and travelling back and forth to London, not an easy task by any stretch and we are so PROUD of her. Christien started out at a hostess and went into serving and also has excelled at that while also having 2 children and working hard. These ladies, including Jenn make us feel so wonderful at the end of the week when we come in, almost like the chosen family we have always wished for. The regular customers that come in on Thursdays or Friday’s we have also built relationships with by conversing back and forth and the main consensus is that what I have been saying is how most of our interactions with other people feel about this location and the staff I have mentioned. The manager Dave is also so wonderful, the amusement and camaraderie that emanates when he is in the dining room by trying to have a but of fun and humour while keeping the professional aspect is very comforting for the customers. I won’t go into what I have noticed as far as the negative things I have seen when it come to other people, I have casually mentioned it to who I felt needed to know and will discuss again if needed. The food is TOP notch, this by far is the best Swiss Chalet location we have been to, Service, quality, price, cleanliness. To anyone that feels the need to be unkind to anyone, it is very unnecessary, I have seen customers & staff in the restaurant been very rude to other staff members as well as to the wait staff and it is very unacceptable. None of us asked for COVID restrictions, but we have to adhere to it and follow without taking your frustrations out on anyone including the front line staff in the restaurant. Be patient & be kind to each other, spread love & kindness. NO more HATE OR ABUSE. Happy MAY 24 WEEKEND!!!!!!woot woot…..
I picked up an online order. The people here, particularly the hosts, are very moody and miserable. If you walk into this place optimistically, be prepared to unfortunately have someone damper your mood. I left a tip for the sake of others in the restaurant that maybe are doing their job. FYI, if you are a host, smile and welcome people, it's not that difficult.
Lady with pink hair was amazing, so bubbly and friendly. She was even able to keep up with the 6 of us! Food was awesome too!
When you bite into a mouldy bun it's hard to give anything less then a 1 star. Ordered dinner tonight and this was the surprise we got. My partner spat it out as quickly as it went in.
Quarter chicken dinner dark meat, very small portion of chicken, smaller then ever, otherwise food was good! Swiss Chalet reached out to me and gave me full credit for my meal, I appreciate that!
The staff were all great. I took friends out very late for holiday dinner. We had difficulty with the COVID app which delayed us, but we finally got in and the waitress and manager stayed till we finished.
I wanted to leave a special note about the incredible front host at Swiss chalet Highbury. She has faced so many challenges because of the pandemic and people have not been very kind. She is funny, kind, energetic and extremely helpful. It's so important to have an amazing host because they are the first person you meet in the restaurant. She really helped us to have the best experience. The waitress was also incredible and after a long time away from restaurants, it was such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you to both the host and waitress.
