On a Monday evening, just after 11 I was looking for something to eat after catching a show at the London Music Hall. Smoke's was open and I thought I would give it a shot. I ordered the Traditional Poutine, and it was the worst poutine I've ever had.The fries were cold and hard. It was obvious that they were old and had been sitting around. Also, cold was the gravy - I think it might have actually made the cheese curds harder rather than melt them.Worst of all - I tipped these guys for this heaping pile of cold garbage.Maybe they thought that people buying Poutine at that hour would be too inebriated to notice but I was driving and had not touched a drop of alcohol. Maybe, fresh, and hot I would have had a different experience. We'll never know because I won't be back.
Best poutine in town hands down
So I've never been to this one before and to be honest didn't really know what to expect. But upon walking in I was greeted by Aiden who gave me the best customer support experience since the almost 2 years I've been in London. Just a very chill and personable guy ??. The only problem I had was that the cheese curds didn't melt too well but the fries under it were crispy to PERFECTION! Honestly worth it if you're on the go and need something filling.
Worst poutine I’ve ever had. Extremely, extremely salty and I like salty food but this ish was ridiculous. It tasted like someone who had OG Covid, and lost their sense of taste made it.Toppings seemed very old and suspect. Curds rock solid, gravy extremely thin. Nothing redeeming about it unfortunately. Won’t ever get it again as I feel rough after eating half of it before abandoning it. It was 15 bucks so tried to get my moneys worth. Nah. Harvey’s poutine is like 4 bucks and it’s way better lol. Sorry but this was awful.
My daughter went in and ordered a poutine that ended up being way to spicy. One bite was all she managed (there was no spice warning). They refused to make a new one or give a refund. They were also unkind about it.
I remember when Smokes poutine first came to London and it was a great spot to eat. The quality of the food was good, portion sizes were large and the staff was good. Now? The food is okay, but the staff do not take their jobs seriously or know what customer service is. The last time I went to Smokes was the Christmas before covid and I wasn't impressed with the attitude of the staff. My husband and I waited 40 minutes for 2 poutines and we ended up being late to a grand theater show we were going to see. The attitude of the staff when we asked how much longer it was going to take was appalling and it was clear they couldn't have cared less. I haven't been back since, until tonight. I figured a couple of years has passed, I will give them another go. I wanted to order the cheeseburger poutine. The girl in the back proceeded to tell the guy taking my order that she can't open the can of cheese sauce because she doesn't know where the can opener is ("its somewhere in the back" were her words), and that another staff member doesn't like her touching the can opener. Then the guy turns to me and says "we're out of cheese sauce". You're not out of cheese sauce (I'm literally standing right in front of you and obviously heard the conversation you just had) you just don't want to go to the back to find the canopener you apparently aren't allowed to touch. I decided not to order and went elsewhere. Smokes has been given multiple chances by me and I won't be going back again. I guess Smokes has become a good place for drunk people to pick up some late night grub after a bar crawl and nothing else.
not fresh and don’t know how to answer the phone due to loud music asked for extra cheese and sauce didn’t get it meanwhile i paid for it.the last few times i’ve gone everything was super fresh really hot and just so yummy this time i went and complete opposite disappointed
Best poutine I've ever had! I'll be ordering again ?!
Bacon poutine. What more could you ask for. Great fresh cut fries. Great tasting gravy and amazing cheese curds. I have not one thing bad to say about this place other than you are going to cost me a lot of money over the years because it will be hard to avoid going here. Very friendly staff as well. Super attentive. Thank you for a great visit and amazing food.
My experience is the worst poutine I've ever eaten, by who would've guessed it? A poutinerie (Naturally high hopes considering this is supposed to be your "forte"). Overly priced for a tiny box that tasted nasty and not worth the money in any way. Watery slop "carmed" onions. I additionally bought deep-fried cheese curds that tasted a bit like dog hair with the tiniest portions considering they are a bit more than 8 bucks(To boot the sour cream seemed aged from a squeeze tube which had slight curds of it's own). To think Smokes thought this was an appropriate meal to serve to a customer is downright disgraceful...
