After we were finally able to order, we eventually got our seaweed salad appetizer, and our feelings of frustration turned to delight -- welcome crunch accompanied high quality seaweed. We each ordered a Deluxe Sushi platter and were glad we did. Except for the maguro, the quality ranged from good to excellent and the breadth of selection was definitely excellent. We were sorry that the miso soup arrived in the middle of our meal instead of at the end as we had requested, but it was hot and tasty enough even after waiting to provide a very satisfying period to the meal.
Fantastic Japanese food. If you're eating Japanese food in London you must try this place. Excellent service and fantastic food. Always eat here.
One of the best restaurants I have been to. The dining area was clean and the music was lovely and not too loud. Service was quick; our food started coming out only 15 minutes after we ordered. To quote my friend: "This is the freshest salad I have ever eaten." The food was absolutely amazing.
Best Japanese restaurant in town ! Everything was absolutely delicious. Family owned and operated since 1987, the atmosphere was very nice and the service impeccable.
This place is amazing! They have a small sign at the door letting you know if they have uni available that day - that's all I need to know! Fresh fish, crispy, fresh produce and friendly service make every visit very enjoyable. Word of caution, you will want to drink the salad dressing straight out of the little pitcher - but don't :D. I don't know what on Earth they put in that dressing, but it is absolutely finger-licking (or pitcher gulping) good. As for uni, if you like your sushi you probably love uni and know how hard it is to find it and how much it costs. At Shiki, they serve uni relatively often and at a fair price, always fresh and a solid size per piece. I have never had their hot dishes, but I often see people having them so I would not be surprised if those are as good as their sushi. This place is a London must!
We ordered a serious variety of sushi and sashimi in our party of 12. Everything was fresh and delicious. Serving sizes were generous for the price. Not sure why the negative reviews but next time I'm in London, a visit to Shiki is de rigueur.
Came in for dinner on a rainy night and left happy.Like many of the other reviews note, this restaurant really needs an update in the interior. But you don't come for the furniture you come for the food.Ordered a couple of different types of rolls and was really pleased with what I got. There was a nice chef taster of grilled lotus root which was really pleasing. The rice in the rolls was very plump with just a right level of sweetness, and the tuna was very moist and succulent. The initial service was a little bit slow in coming to the table for the order but once the order was placed My drink and the food came out in really good time.Prices are a little bit higher than you normally expect, but with recent increases in food prices, and minimum wage it's understandable. The quality of food meant that it was a good overall value
I highly recommend this restaurant. My friend and I tried several dishes, and all of them were super delicious. Sukiyaki soup was seasoned perfectly, and the regular beef included was impressed enough, making me wondering how good their upgraded one is. The egg used for sauce was creamy, very fresh, and was not smelly at all. Another dish I extremely liked was the Aburi set. This set had 4 sushi, and each one showed total different tastes. This set truly matched their restaurant name: Shiki (meaning 4 seasons). When chewing the salmon one with fired stuffs, it sounded like walking in the snow. We also tried Gyu-kushi, each piece was completely immersed in perfectly seasoned sauce, and the chicken meat itself was chewy. Also, the sea food for sashimi or sushi was so fresh and good that my friend and I later decided to try every sashimi in the manual. We personally recommend Hokki-gai sashimi (we had 9 or 10 pieces in total). The raw shrimp and squid sashimi were very rich (if you are not a fan of this taste, these two might be too much for you.)Btw, it took some time to serve the dishes, but definitely worthy for waiting.最高!冲!真的很好吃!寿喜锅有两款,基础的就很棒了,有钱可以试一试和牛的。也有单独的和牛料理。他们家刺身真的超新鲜,一点异味都没有。非常推荐北极贝。上菜很慢。
I heard there is Japanese chef here and I wanted to eat real sushi cuz some sushi restaurants serve not real sushi..(I was living in Japan for a long time and I know real sushi), but disappointed… Fish was NOT fresh at all. so dry and old. I think grocery store has more fresh sushi.. Also taking so long time to get my order, waiting like more than 30 mins. Never visit again.
