It was our first time eating at Sakata, and was hoping to have great tasting ramen but unfortunately I wasn't impressed. We had the Miso Tonkatsu Ramen, and the broth was bland even after dissolving the blob of miso paste. The ramen noodles wasn't as chewy as I expected but it wasn't that bad, it's really the broth that threw me off as the taste of white pepper was too strong. I have for sure had better ramens in the past. On the other hand, their Pork Cutlet Curry was on point. I just wish the sauce wasn't as thick. The Takoyaki was good, and the Sakata Roll was excellent.
This is my favourite a la carte ramen / sushi restaurant in London. My personal favourite is the curried breaded pork don... and I wish I had a picture of it, but I ate it already. We have visited in-person frequently before the pandemic and the wait staff is friendly, the portions are great (especially for the hot food). I can walk in and spend a modest amount of money... and leave feeling satisfied and full.
It's the first time for our family. My son wanted to eat sushi, but the daughter wanted to eat ramen. As a result, we picked this joint. Once we walked into the restaurant, we started to doubt our choice. The furnishings are really old and not properly maintained. The servers were not attentive and forgot to get us the menu tablet. We ordered a California Roll, a Philadelphia Roll, a Katsudon and a Tonkatsu Ramen. Surprisingly, the sushi was very good. However, the ramen was so-so. The noodles were overcooked and the soup was light. Although my five-year-old daughter still enjoyed it very much. All in all, the sushi was good, the donburi was okay, the ramen was so-so and the service was lower than expected. Although Ramen is in its name, I would not recommend ramen in this place.
Oyster, scallop, shrimp tempura and black garlic tonkotsu ramen.Oyster, incredible. Didn't taste fishy at all. I think the top was a mix of mayonnaise and fish eggs.Scallop, Wowzers! Nice. They basically cut the scallop to slices although it's not very visible and they added mushrooms and little bit of crab sticks in it.Shrimp tempura, tasty. Not much to say except it's what you would expect. Would probably go for deep fried shrimp next time (a different batter). The black garlic tonkotsu ramen, it was good. Mushrooms, black garlic oil, corn, bean sprouts, 4-5 slices meat (think it was pork belly) and ½ soft boiled egg. The noodles are nice. Firm and square shaped. In my opinion, they could've added more salt to the broth but it did taste really good in terms of flavor. This is the only reason I didn't set it as 5*.Obviously there was soy sauce on the table but that just felt weird to add to my ramen.
Went out for a late lunch. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Probably the best sushi and gyoza I’ve had. Definitely recommend!
We really enjoyed our dinner a few nights ago at Sakata. We decided to go with the $65 mixed sushi/sashimi option and were absolutely satisfied. The service was quick and sufficient and the atmosphere matched. We will definitely be back!
Had a chance to dine her after a tournament in Toronto over the weekend and the ramen definitely hits home. We tried both the Regular Ramen and the Spicy Ramen (Couldn’t remember the exact names) and they were delicious! Not overpowering with spices and flavours but a great balance overall. The lamb and beef skewers were a great appetizer to start the dinner experience! Can’t forget the Creme brûlée to cap off the night! My partner dived into this waaaay too fast and I only got like 3 spoonfuls from the entire thing ?
I love this place!! I’ve been going for a few years now and my favorite thing ever to get here is the 4 ramen. The people are nice, the atmosphere and decorations are nice and the food is awesome and reasonably priced I would definitely recommend. A dear friend of mine lives closeby, our meeting place when we are in town!
Broth was okay'ish. (A little fishy for my taste)Egg and Pork were very cold.Relatively expensive for an average portion.(Add-ons like extra noodles are very expensive)
The service is quick and friendly. A little bit expensive but the selections are relatively diverse. I have been having ramens and sushi in this place for 3 years. The quality remains unchanged, good job.
